Still light snow here as it has been since 7am just no intensity to it.

Afternoon, it's snowed here all day, imagine opaque drizzle and you'll get a pretty good idea of the intensity, there's nothing settled though. Shock, horror, the gritter has been through the village, that NEVER happens;  can only mean one of two things....either there's the mother load coming through tonight or the salt yard is so full they've got to get rid of some pronto or get into trouble for over-ordering.

Temp-0.6 dew point -2.9 so it's still cold enough :)

Khodds - the only time you're too old for sledging is when they've nailed the lid on your coffin.

Let's hope the second batch from the east makes better progress.

To be honest who would have thought the radar would have looked like it did today when you went to bed last night? Not me.

The Meto have stuffed this forecast right up. There app shows barely any ppn, which is BS.

I'm not sure about mother load  but bbc graphics show more showers coming in from 10pm ish sort of time which would have allowed ground temperatures to get back below freezing properly to aid settling.

Still snow on fields and roofs but not a huge amount, most melted.

I'm actually preferring the look of the radar tonight. Those to areas of ppn could merge heading west

You think that is what is forecast to track west with a more direct easterly?

Looking promising...

BBC - Remaining cloudy overnight with further outbreaks of rain and sleet, giving a dusting of snow over the hills and possibly to lower levels. Staying cold with isolated frost pockets. Becoming windy.

I think it must be. Some energy coming out of Holland as well. Let's hope so because this time tomorrow it will all be over as temps, dp's and 850's rise.

Yes it could feasibly be our last chance this winter so I remain optimistic from the comfort of my bar stool by window in local pub later :D:drunk:

Ive been watching all day and it is getting more lively in the east just hard to track its direction as wind is to change direction slightly.

I want it delayed until later we need that ground to cool down more, let the east have the sleety wet stuff it can come here once its got its act together

Yup I agree.

Cant see a dry gap being present now though. The merge is almost complete

So is it from the east still that we are watching? Someone mentioned channel?

At a guess I would say we looking at southern half of the northern blob (technical term) because we have a north east wind but I could be wrong, which ever one it is we want it to expand and intensify more.

After this mornings surprise ppn that came across UK much more organised than i'd expected I remain hopeful.

Ideally we want a few hours of clear sky to allow the temperature to drop and cool the ground like happened last evening/night. Unfortunately though no hard frost to lower the ground temperature enough to subsequently sustain snow cover.

Not sure when it last snowed throughout the day, so a very rare occurrence indeed today even though it ultimately may as well have rained!

However my 6 month old enjoyed being out in it, happily moving his hands towards the flakes!

I caught a few perfect hexagonal flakes on my jumper but they melted too quickly before we could get pictures.

Less confidence in tonight than last night to be honest, considering how the day just faded away. Time will tell..
