Had about a cm here in the end and looks like we might catch the edge of disturbance coming down the east.

in fact it's started snowing as I type!

Interesting comments in the MAD thread. Talk of the SW England being a sweet spot for cold and potential snow next Thursday based of course on 1 model run. Nothing  reflected with the MO but as ever there are alot of options going forward so of course not a guarantee by a long way, but shows there is potential for this neck of the woods....still!

But I want to see it snow IN Bournemouth!!! doesn't matter how pathetic! I don't think much is falling from that, though? it's Virgil Van Dyke or something?

Does anybody else get that? that snow doesn't really count if you see it somewhere other than your home area? Like yesterday seeing all that snow down the M3 - didn't really feel it because I knew as soon as it hit Ringwood there would be zip.

The western edge of that lot passed over here earlier but nothing fell from the sky, just very very windy. I think it was evaporating before reaching the ground.

hope it does give something

It's breaking up overhead at the moment, I'm afraid. Nothing doing here.

much as I love living in Bournemouth we really are relegation fodder when it comes to snow. It's almost embarrassing at times.

Well done to all who have seen some so far and who might see some more yet! that band travelling southeast is a massive fail for central southern England I think. Going to be too far east.

Agreed, we are always too far South and either too far west or too far east or its all rain. One day our time will come again!  To be honest be always tend to fair better when the cold air has established itself and the mild air from the Atlantic tries to push back in and if you are very lucky the fabled Channel Low.

Seems quite a few fellow South/South Western folk are also suffering from no snow hangovers!!! :vava:

Back to the drawing board (Charts) to see when our next let down will be lol :wallbash:

Oh the joy of British Winter.

Congrats to those that go some of the white stuff!

well.....the 06z shows later next week some decent cold uppers and the winds getting south of east and dragging some "precip" off the Channel onto southwestern coastal areas.

That band of snow hit the A303 and simply disappeared...  I'd be gutted if it wasn't so bloody predictable!

Oh well, I saw the cloud that gave that nice snow shower over Ringwood / New Forest our of my bedroom window first thing this morning.  The snow missed Bournemouth, obviously, but at least I saw the cloud... :wallbash:

Well I can confirm the thinnest sprinkling of snow on the west side of the Mendip. Nothing out of the ordinary however. Such a shame everything has missed here. In fact the temperature hasn't fallen below 0C yet so can't really call it a cold spell here.

Fingers crossed for some surprises in next week's easterly. Would be very unusual for us to get snow here on an easterly after a failed northwesterly.

The snow that fell for an hour or so last night didn't settle and the ppn turned to sleety drizzle on the back edge. I don't even think there was much ice this morning - despite nearly 20mm falling yesterday - because the wind dried everything up very quickly.

I don't hold out any hopes for today. If we do get clipped by the western edge of that mass the temp is currently 3.2C, with a DP of -2.3C. Humidity is 67%. Wind in the west and gusty. Sunny.

Anyone viewing weather stations on wunderground today, you'll probably see a station in W Upton hit the mid teens temp wise, as my temp gauge is in direct sunlight !! I know it's like a micro climate here, but not quite to that extreme lol

rely must sort that out, but it's hard in a west facing garden, sun all day!

Famous last words lol.............. A week in weather forecasting is a life time.  48hrs is about as far as I trust and even then snowcasting can come down to looking out the window.

That said, that setup would be much more favourable for our neck of the woods so fingers crossed.

Hop on the roller coaster but beware its gonna be a bumpy ride.

Snizzle lol, I had a very light dusting of snizzle on the car this morning, tiny little ice crystals.
