I take it the snow is falling in the south East dare not go in that thread.

Galling isn't it really. The weather was always ours, we had the hours and hours worth of rain. Move it into the Se and et voila, snow , and more snow. Ba Humbug

Not a chance it is hard enough getting frontal snow past the Welch let alone a few showers...

Hmm bit of a damp squid in Newbury and BBC annoying me by a meal of it with "artic conditions sweeping Britain" ...then focuses on Scotland.. well yes we expected that.

any more tonight ? Suspect not although dreading the roads tomorrow. Heck of lot of water on drive on way home from Reading.. Got to commend West Berkshire council though ... all the roads seem to be gritted, even th rural ones...

Do feel sorry though for those on the east coast and the threat of the storm surges and high winds and hope for them it doesn't materialise

Shame the short sea track across the Bristol channel isn't enough to generate showers ;)

So frustrating in situations like these... You watch them tentatively as they track the whole country (wales) only to die of death in the channel :wallbash:

Yeah it really is horrid.. every damn time.

Between 17:45 and 18:30 it was looking good, but you can tell on the last few frames they're dying out rapidly.

Wait, no I'm sure, yes..... they are. They're heading for the SE, so they get the showers and the North Sea low tomorrow to follow. Gee life can be a pain at times..

Sad to say it is already melting here in Gillingham, plenty of drips from the roof. Sadly not cold enough to last, but what a few hours

A lot of folk in the SE thread reporting that their lights have been flickering. The same has been happening here!

A couple of other things that strike me too, the winds have been nowhere near what was forecast, even now, they are forecast to be gusting to 37mph, only stretching to 11 or 12mph in reality. The temperature isn't as cold as expected either - its been rising over the last hour.

For some yes.

Good signal for snow showers overnight tonight across the SW moors, and more especially in the early hours of Friday morning, more widely.

Although worth noting these are likely to be light, well scattered and unlikely to provide any coverings.

What's it like in the Mendips NK? I'm hoping for showers to at least make the hills white to go for a walk tomorrow morning.

They are white but it is thin and patchy. Maybe if we got a couple of showers later in night that would help.. ski slopes not open for play just yet.

Lol , I've had 4 today already

but unfortunately @Chul we are in the wrong counties for showers on a northerly or North westerly. Sigh ...
