Well snow has let up here now leaving a micro dusting. I want it to clear asap now to freeze it and then I have faith in AWD's showers after :D

Are you going to be awake between midnight & 04:00am when the potential for snow shower activity is at its greatest for us?  Lol.

The rain/snow returns on the radar now surround me on three sides, with a single pixel where I am still registering as blue. Same thing happened last year. Could be taken to mean I'm about 10 m too low in altitude :shok:

Stopped here and can now see the clear sky in the distance to my West. Fingers crossed for something later.

Was not sure whether we would get the white stuff, but to have it settle on cars, bins and fence tops is a bonus.
Still coming down and still heavy here now, that's 45 minutes worth.

1.1c, 992.4 hPa, NNW 14mph, 15-20mph gusts, 10,8mm total rain so far today

Dropping quite rapidly now T=1C and DP=0.5C here at Reading, interestingly the observatory at the uni gives detail on ground temperatures. Grass= -0.2C and concrete= 2.1C

Mmmmm.............

The WRF NMM 12z has this Friday morning;

nmm-1-20-0.png

On this run it swings a little too much SE, into CS England & SE England, but a marginal correction westwards would bring more of the West Country into play.

Clutching at straws I know, but you are all telling me to be more positive.  I'm trying, I really am.

Ah, well. No snow,  just a poxy morning of leaving for work at 6 o'clock on (probably) icy roads tomorrow. Not that I'm bitter or anything!

It's hard to tell when the wind is blowing so strong, but as far as I could make out having stood out with a torch (lampshades around here are too dim to be of much use), every time the wind gusts some fat flakes come down, but otherwise it's mostly either moderate rain or very wet snow.

I don't think that's too much of a clutch at straws. That could easily swing in our favour.

It's not game over yet :drunk:

Temp back up to 2.4C now that any intensity that we did have has waned. Back to light rain, but the wind has really picked up.

Just as the front cleared through it started to turn to sleet and snow. Conditions now ideal. Next chance are showers hopefully incoming. What a monumental let down :sorry:

A few bits of sleet and the easterly looks dead. Roll on summer.

Yep, rain should be warmer by then.

You're area, bring more prone to a NNW, should do Ok with some snow showers tonight.

High res modelling consistent in a signal of fairly frequent, albeit scattered, snow showers over the SW moors.

Obviously the higher up the moor you go, the increasing chance of settling snow.

Accumulative PPN, 12z Hirlam chart shows the favouritism with the 2 moors well;

More sleety splats going on now. 34mph gusts producing a windchill of -3.1°C

27mm of rain has fallen, quite a lot of flooding in Swanage.

Lots of flooding round here too. Just took my daughter to an after school club up the hill in lytchett matravers and it's snowing there. It's about 280ft. Nothing exceptional
