Just had a downgrade on the met office app and online from heavy snow to sleet. Disappointing.
BBC have done the same.
Has been showing heavy snow since yesterday lunchtime from 6pm for us since yesterday lunchtime.

The Sky Q side app has been showing heavy snow for two hours for us from 5pm for last  few days, not seen that forecast anywhere else.
Anyone know where it is getting its data from?

Afternoon ,can confirm here at winscombe about 50 mtrs ASL we have a temperature of 4.2 c steady rain ,but more importantly the wind now northwesterly , if we can keep that area of precipitation going for several hours and a bit of luck we could see that magical white stuff ,any showers over night would be of snow i think so any one in the right spot could do well ,right back to caring for my 94 yr old mum inlaw ,but a bit of curtain twitching required tonight cheers gang .:yahoo:

cannot see the South Coast around Portsmouth / Gosport getting any as the precip is through before the real cold digs in plus being slap bang by the sea does not help

Just started to see a hint of sleet in the rain now but I stress it is mostly rain still. :nonono:

looking at the radar, sleet has increased in north west and in wales over last half hour or so... think the show maybe on the road soon?

I know some people have already mentioned the rain; it's been absolutely disgusting out there so far today.

Had to drive to Totnes to drop my wife off at the train station (she didn't fancy driving to Bristol in the end), the road coming back had loads of standing water. So many drivers without any lights on either - sort it out you muppets!

Getting everything thrown at us today, if we do get a bit of snow that'll be a bonus!:)

Temp has dropped 1.5c in around 35 mins here in north Dorset to 4.5c

the colder air is really starting to dig into the precip now and bang and time as the drop should be between 2-3pm. Given that the band is progged to take longer to traverse the region a few hrs of snow for those in the east glos/wilts/Dorset might be possible.

Chucking it down, temp dropped a little to 5.6C. However the wind has veered round dramatically to ENE. Is this the start of the cold front or just a squall line passing through?

If this turns to snow sooner than inticipated watch for an amber warning, I do think the METO aren't expecting much though. We'll see. Amber warning as no grit not because large amount of snow

Met Office still showing sleet for Gosport but heavy snow for Fareham at 1800. So Fareham has had an upgrade I wonder if Gosport could follow if it gets the temps sooner rather than later. This could come down to the wire. Would like to see the temp in Gosport drop sooner rather than later though as it's stabilised at 7.2C at the moment. Wind: 2 mph SE-S backing to ESE at times. Rain: 7.4mm Rate: 3.0mm/hr.

Temperature and dew points fairly steady here in Bournemouth.

I feel the rain band will have passed before the cold air digs in.

I think that other than the usual suspects ie. Dartmoor, Salisbury etc there are going to be a lot of disappointed people.

Is it me or has the media gone crazy, they seem to be reporting snowmageddon coming:cold::wallbash:

Another forum lurker drawn into a post!

It's still just over 6 degrees in and around Salisbury, but dropping to 5 degrees up on the plain. Only just seen a small drop in the temp and winds lighten (still from south west)  so think i've not seen the colder air making it's appearance here just yet.

Keeping my fingers crossed for at least seeing some of the white stuff falling before dark

I see on live temperature map data from https://www.wunderground.com/wundermap it looks like the colder air has made its move into most of wales;  and parts of the south west and central southern midlands showing temperature drops from last hours check
