I think (for imby), the majority, if not all, the PPN will have cleared before conditions become conducive to snowfall.

I'm on a night shift tonight, so I'm hoping I see a few grains fall from any following showers that make it over the Welsh hills.

Some nice, cold, frosty weather later next week possible.

So the fun begins tonight then, temps are tumbling here in Cornwall and once this front has past then the lamppost and radar becomes our best friend for the night.

best of luck and enjoy. I plan to take a trip up to Dartmoor in the morning for a run .

3.4mm so far today. Temperature peaked at 7.7°C earlier now 7.2°C but hasn't dropped anymore for a while. Hopefully that changes soon.

Holy crapola! The heavens have opened..

Can see that from your rain records, a good 6mm is showing for you the last hour.
Expect that is coming our way shortly, only 1.2mm so far today, drizzle, but just light rain at present for the last hour or so.

I suspect that I'll see cars covered in snow coming from high-up villages like Four Marks, while Winchester has the odd flake. Still - there's always the entertainment on the MAD thread.

Temperature and dew points fairly steady here in Bournemouth.

I feel the rain band will have passed before the cold air digs in.

I think that other than the usual suspects ie. Dartmoor, Salisbury etc there are going to be a lot of disappointed people.

Is it me or has the media gone crazy, they seem to be reporting snowmageddon coming:cold::wallbash:

Who's pulling the graveyard shift tonight?

haha If I did not have work tomorrow I may have done...but still it does reinforce my thoughts that snow showers will be main risk of snow around around here. IMBY post I know sorry :p

Temp now down to 3.8, dew point also dropping, now down to 1.1. Moderate rain with everything sopping wet, even if temps do drop low enough to support snow the rate of precipitation is going to have to step up a lot to stand any chance of settling.

morning,

I'm relying on this thread today to save me from acute embarrassment today. I live in Bournemouth but I'm at work in Fleet - I cannot afford to get stuck today. What chance? Have to do nursery pick up in Bomo by 6pm and my wife is home ill so she can't bail me out.

Am I doomed?

you'll be fine. Outside lane and stand on the accelerator with hazard lights on.

I live at the foot of the Chilterns, Hoping any snow comes after I get home from work this evening as I have to drive up m40 from Heathrow, and I want to enjoy any snow, rather than be sitting in traffic for hours on end.
