Karlos, nay you place words into my mouth:whistling:.  After all I've seen sleet this year and the radar merely suggested rainfall, based upon the conditions present. It is "indicative".

I only say this because I've been caught by it before, so when people ask me I stay on the careful side of what it might happen in the form of precipitation. (After all we know it's a damn fine line between the liquid & the solid!)

Ok perhaps I journalist'd your words a bit on reflection lol

Crikey all these years I've put faith in these! I guess what could be of use is webcams (wunderground have some) , they don't lie! Anyone know a link or website to motorway cameras that could be another way to track it.

Yup, try http://www.motorwaycameras.co.uk/

morning all, quite a chilly 4c today, dry at the moment. Quite excited about the prospect on next week too now as it's looking likely to stay cold. Someone mentioned streamer for tonight as well! I'm out tonight at a pub quiz but they have wifi there so I'll take a sneak peek in here every so often for an update. Have a good day - I'll pop back later  :hi:

Sounds like Dorset we don't have a mile of motorway to view! Then of course in and around Southampton you have the romanse project webcams @ http://www.romanse.org.uk/#

And for our far western friends you have http://www.trafficengland.com/#map-menu-views

Parts of the Cotswolds are over 200 meters (Cleeve hill is over 300) so pretty confident we will see some decent snow this afternoon.

Morning all. 3.8C here and fairly bright. Looking forward to a good soaking, I mean some decent snow later. Meto still has us down for heavy rain after lunch turning to snow after dark for a couple of hours. I'd love it to happen, but being in the valley frost hollow I think ice will be the main feature here.

Happy snow hunting all!

euro 4 backing down from the 18z run somewhat especially for the east.

IMG_1753.GIF

but as many have pointed out the latest raw data which runs the apps are still keen on more snow in place

IMG_1752.PNG

who knows!

Well im off today so can keep a good watch on reports and the radar :)

and we also have that risk overnight and into the morning, the flow looks quite unstable and ppn/snow showers could pop up pretty much anywhere.

have a good day everyone.

What is good if we get the snow, often the opposite way round - is that the snow will freeze and be there all of friday if it lies!!!

Edit - and now BBC have followed the METO for a longer period of heavy snow - unlike the bbc TV forecast so I expect that will change, slowing the process of the front.

Not convinced!

Just had to change my weather station software as it kept telling me my USB wasn't plugged in. So back on Cumulus now. I do like the cumulus interface. Not sure it will integrate with wunderground though. But at least I will have some good data later on this afternoon.

According to my app, it was supposed to be raining already, but that looks a way off. Good news

If the NetWx-sr 00z is to be believed there could be a few snow showers  over night tonight in places pin pointing the location is a tough a fair though, but if you don't get snow from the main band there is still hope.

Similar thing here too, was predicted rain here from 7am... Although wet outside, it looks like it's a couple hours behind! Now, where did I put those straws....

Im thinking the METO will put out an amber warning soon, rain means no gritting can be done so roads could become awful should even a small amount lie...maybe the east of our region would see this too.
