High ground in the west should do very well out of this with the Peak District and North Wales looking like sweet spots

i certainly have the altitude and am in a favoured region but think I am slightly to far northeast to be in the direct firing line but I've already had a couple of falls this winter so can't be greedy.

good luck everyone.

Any thoughts on the Brecon Beacons or Mendips/Exmoor? Looking for a day to go walking in it but also when the weather is nice enough to. Saturday would be ideal but it's looking possibly inclement again by then.

Based off current models of the 850 air mass, wind direction and precipitation, Id say anything a good few hundred feet above sea level and on the western side of the country could see some white stuff. Maybe a good covering. Anything say east of Bristol I think will likely not see much.

All showers appear to be coming from a NW direction and probably fizzle out over land.

just hoping the cold stays around long enough for us all to get a little of the white stuff. Thursdays offering appears to miss most of Central England but I guess these things change from day to day.

Thanks! I'm always amazed how difficult it is for showers to penetrate a few tens of miles inland when they keep strength well inland over the continent.

The western hills sound like a good bet then!

If all goes to plan the Brecon Beacons should see snow - right height, right location. I live just north of Cheltenham and quite often Cotwolds (Cleeve Hill) and Malverns can be clear but look across to the black mountains they are often white.

Maybe just an incy wins teeny weeny ramp. BUT. Tonight we have already bitterly cold strong winds here in the Western Isles. We have had gusts of 75kph, NW direction. that bodes well for snow in a few days time. Lots of weather preparation already happening with ferries warning of cancellation, as are flights. I suspect we will see our first proper temp blizzards here. Perhaps even thundersnow too.

Its been a while since we have had a proper winter arctic blast, albeit short.Ppersonally the warmup for something more juicy I imagine.

I will let you know how it turns out up here!

Calamity imminent...vast majority now removed from met office warnings...extreme coasts only now....you couldn't make it up.

You have to remember the warnings are for disruption potential, doesn't mean anywhere out side of these areas wont get snow.
