  1. 1. What is your Winter preferance if we can't have snow?

    • Dry and mild with a Euro High or simuler
    • Rain and gales, possible severe weather( to include spells of colder zonal as Lows pass).
    • Cold and dry.Night frosts/fog,sunny days
    • A mixed bag,some mild and dry,some dry and cold,some rain.

Most here would like to see a decent winter freeze, that seems a given.

However a cursory glance at the Model output discussion thread shows a devide  between keeping the 'status quo' as a preference, while others just want 'something to happen'.

So are you happy with the mild, dry,Euro High dominated continuation or would you rather zonal  to return for all, with the rain, gales and severe weather possibilities that go with that.

All before the 'winter most here want' arrives

Today would be ideal - sunny, mild and dry.

As long as it ain't rainin', I ain't complainin'. Thankfully, no rain in the forecast.

Why no "Dry and cold" option? I couldn't vote for either of the above.

I often think the dry and cold option can lead to the snow possibilities; or colder still anyway.

Many on here would prefer that of course, so it is with the excluded 'obvious' most want cold and snow option.

My post was inspired by the two options that seem 'on the table' up to the New year, and the debate of what folk prefer on the mod discussion between the two.

I have made an edit, as that seems to be wanted here.

Remember,it is how you want winter to play out while the waiting game for snow continues!

Unfortunately, the edit requires a choice be made between "Dry and mild with a Euro High or simuler" or "Rain and gales, possible severe weather" before a vote for my preference of "Cold and dry.Night frosts/fog" can be placed.  As I dislike both of the first two options, I cannot vote.

He said 'most here', not all. I suspect most on here want exactly that.

I'm a lover of the Polar Westerly airstream. If possible the lows passing quickly through the Atlantic on a WNW-ESE gradient bringing winds of 20mph, gusting to 30mph-a dry cold polar wind with any precipitous form in brief showers on any fronts bringing plenty of sunshine. The closest I've got to my dream was the winter season of 2014/15.

It always surprises me when people are desperate for snow even during cold, frosty periods of weather, like the late November/ early December spell. I for one always welcome waking up to -5C and a thick frost.

If we can't get snow then frosty weather or maybe the odd deep low pressure system giving gales. Certainly better than the mild boring calm weather of late. It's just a waste at this time of year. Time flies & I find after Christmas Spring soon comes around. Hopefully January will rescue this "Winter"....wouldn't mind 2013 style.

A firm vote for dry cold and frosty, if we can't have snow. Absolutely no to wind and rain - have enough of that all year...

dark, cloudy but no rain. Because rain is saying if it was 10 degrees colder I might of snowed on you instead.

Would have to be cold and dry with plenty of frost. I just love that weather, frost lasting all day in the shade etc.

Aye, wet snow is just slush waiting to happen, and slush is the devil's own invention.

Severe gales and beyond is my preference, with heavy rain as an added bonus.
