Barry Manilow was a prolific songwriter, but his hit "I Write The Songs" was written by Bruce Johnston from the Beach Boys.

"Of the 122 soldiers of the 24th Regiment present at the Battle of Rorke's Drift, 49 are known to have been of English nationality, 32 were Welsh, 16 were Irish, 1 was a Scot, and 3 were born overseas. The nationalities of the remaining 21 are unknown."

Abraham Lincoln's son Robert was saved from possible injury or death at a railway station by the brother of Lincoln's eventual assassin.

Robert Lincoln was eye witness to President Garfield's assassination in 1881. He was invited by President McKinley to an event in 1901 , where McKinley was assassinated, although  he was not eye witness to it.  It is said that he refused a later presidential invitation for fearing that his presence will result in another assassination of a President.

This is an interesting "did you know"! I did know that the "QWERTY" keyboard may have been designed to stop jamming keys on typewriters, but I certainly didn't know that there were/are so many alternatives, other than my trusty "AZERTY" over here in France which I now switch between with "QWERTY" very easily!

Did you know it's entirely possible to telephone book and pay for a B&B, actually speak to a real person as they take your card details, and then to turn up to find they have no bed for you and entirely deny your booking, whilst looking at the credit card booking you're showing them? Well, it is. Not a word of apology either.
