and I fear the cold will suddenly make an appearance come April and May, precisely when it is too late and we don't want it.  It's almost as if the UK is cursed when it comes to cold and snow.  Yes we are on an island in the warming gulf stream but it would be nice to have at least one or two semi decent winters every decade or so rather than 2 every 100 years.

Precisely that!  In the past 2 years in my neck of the woods, we have had sleet falling well into Feb, meaning it is often cold and wet - yuck!

Nevermind, the weather will do what the weather does ....  I always feel that if I stop visiting this forum, something unexpected will happen

Haha, do you mean this sort of post by any chance Ben?

"What do you mean with this Winter is over nonsense? Its only early January, it can still snow in this country in January, February, March, April, May and has snowed many times even in June! Anyway we have already had some very cold nights and widespread frosts, look where we were this time last year. We are only a small insignificant dot of an Island in a huge, massive warm sea, you need to lower your expectations."

Hehehehe:rofl:

Haha... Excellent :yahoo:

Snowray that is exactly it.... I find posts like that absolutely hilarious but that one has to be the winner...... Convincing themselves that another snowless winter so far is OK, Because it can still snow in JUNE......Waaaaaaaaaaa

And whats with the ''Lower expectations'' from that post - Its been 4 years for Christ sake... Even the blooming Sahara Dessert had snow last month!!

Hi carl, its certainly a good deal colder than manchester.Obviously when the winters are as crap as they have been like the last 3 years it just means slightly colder rain..:nonono:

One time in Oldham that sticks in the memory was being there in the winter of 95/96. Thought I'd experienced bad snowy weather growing up in a North Wales village 700ft above sea level...

God...never felt so cold in all my life..was like being on a polar expedition...north east wind was like a knife and the snow (fine powdery stuff) actually stung when it hit the skin.

And I would give my eye teeth to relive it :)

I don't know about your area, but we have had more air frosts down here than the last few years put together, which has still required money being spent on anti freeze, de icer etc.

The snow plough & snowman templates have however, been a waste of money so far.

I've a feeling it will come off. I'm getting 2008/9 vibes here....never forgot the unexpected snow on February 1st in 2009. I didn't pay attention and thought it was lies from the weather forecast. Went out to meet a friend in Brum City Centre, it just came down. We went back early as we were frightened of being stranded. Following day, I was covering at another home - it was like a Christmas card. Got a taxi to and from work, and they fed me!

Have faith - even if it's February we've bloody done it. I'm confident of the models coming off.

Close but no cigar. Which of course neatly sums up the recent proceedings
