It happens everytime. No way I'm getting sucked into this one. Perhaps the north will see some of the white stuff but for me I'd rather keep the blue skys going.

I keep reading about 'the building blocks being in place' in the mod thread. What I want to know, is who has the lego kit and why do they keep building a giant middle finger?

i know it hasn't been the most illuminating winter but here in Wales we've had plenty of frosty cold nights and days and even the lake in Cardiff froze over in November which in itself is rare in this part of the world.

from the posts i've seen you'd think it had been windy wet and mild all winter, it certainly hasn't here.

GFS is rubbish! wrong for Monday, Monday will be a washout, GFS shows it dry, UKMO/ECM calls it wet, GFS will be wrong

And not long ago you worshipped the GFS could do nothing wrong.

What's with all the excitement in the MOD thread?

Struggling to see anything interesting from a cold perspective in the 12z modelling personally.

Only positive I can see is the continuation of lack of zonality as per this winter so far.

UKMO says yes:rofl:

Aye. But he's far from alone in that...Only last week, peeps were praising the GFS for its 'accuracy'...It was predicting Snowmageddon at the time though...The mark of a truly great model!:D

It's because some folk wan't winter wonderland and when things don't pan out that way by the 1st of Jan they declare winter over, blah blah blah........... And they look to start blaming certain posters as if it's their fault the weather didn't materialise.

I agree with you, it's been a decent winter to date in terms of cold and I'm sure the snow will come (hopefully)

and the man from del monte, he says yes..................

We've already got 3 models that have to agree, we don't need the man from Del Monte piping up!

Tbh, here it's been quite poor so far this winter before yesterday, if a little better than last year (not hard!!!). Often dull (not sunny), damp nothingness for much of December. I'd rather something was happening, it's not as if that means flooded homes unless it's really wet, if it does we have a real problem with where we build homes.
It seems most of the N Hemisphere often gets more of even the changeable/mobile weather we are supposed to have a reputation for (as well as deep cold/snow)... :lazy:

However, the last two days have been good. I am feeling a little better about things partly because we may at least get some PM air and sunshine in the mix (unlike yesterday's horrible ECM 12z), and probably last night's -5.5C min followed by a beautiful winter morning helped.

i'm constantly amazed that people look at a computer model 10 days in advance and say we've been led up the garden path.  its not cast iron certainty and its like predicting all ten premiership games, impossible for it to happen.  Yet people hold their lives to the models which rarely verify that far out.  Astonishes me.
