ECM gaining some excitement in the main thread but once again any deep cold remains out in la la land and never actually seems to make it into a reliable timeframe

Correct, the 10 days away syndrome. Don`t blame the ECM, they all have the disease which appears to come with the complimentary BOOM attached as a freebie.

18z GFS has just produced an outrageous run for cold...shame it's not the 0z or the 12z which might have a bit more substance. But taking a step back and looking at GFS, ECM and a better UKMO shaping up there are now quite a few op runs appearing that does give the UK a decent cold to very cold end to the winter so maybe we can start to hope!...

I thought I'd post this chart from the models for next Sunday if it pulls off.

Much of the East and south East of the uk battered on a stiff strong Easterly with plenty of snow showers for most of us to enjoy even you guys down south.

My subaru legacy AWD  is primed and ready to go.

From T+144 ppn builds on the models and keeps coming you couldn't make it up.

As much as I'm not enamoured of another cold spell, I hope the model forecasts firm up soon so I can plan what days to take off. Keeping my fingers crossed it doesn't last too long- was enjoying the daffs and crocus that were starting to appear!

You're the football fan who walks into your local towns biggest home fan pub with an away shirt on aren't you?

I didn't like the look of the wind direction arrows on this mornings BBC Weather.

By Friday it appeared to show SE direction and the deep blues were changing back to greens.

Also the summary included mainly dry week and there was no mention of snow!

On the BBC weather last night late on Darren Betts did say a south Easterly for a time. But mainly dry.
