We’ve not used the sledges since March 2013,when we had a big snowstorm here.

Hopefully we  all get to see some proper snow this winter, problem is if the usual weather pattern sets up again for Dec,it always seems to get locked in that pattern for months, the reason why their has been so little snow the last few winters.

well fingers crossed we have a different winter this time round! I'm trying to keep the faith,  I'm not gona lie, if we get another snow no show winter, I think ill give up chasing it.

I've got my eyes firmly on it, Nothing showing yet on the charts, I think that will change over the next week though. It looks primed over the coming weeks, for the reasons you've stated. Good angle of and increasing jet strength off the Seaboard should increasingly steer energy through the southern arm as we go through December.

The only mild I can see is in short bursts, through waxing and waning as the theme of meridionality continues.

This remains anti zonal.

Chasing an easterly in December.....what could possibly go wrong :D

On the subject of 'the trend is your friend' I don't know whether the latest update of the EC46 has been posted which indicates above average temps from the around the 18th December to the 10th January. Just saying..

Yes i think that sounds reasonable at the moment- best chance for snowfall would be first half of the month imho, esp the further North and west one heads- (and altitude will probably help) as we get waxing and waning of PM/TM air)..

It will be correct.

And it will continue to forecast mild through the rest of the winter and will continue to be correct.

And both EC and GLOSEA will forecast a mild winter next year and they will be correct.

However, at some point in the next 5 years one of the models will forecast a proper cold spell and it will turn out to be incorrect.

That's the spirit. :)

On the subject of the GloSea5, this was its raw output for NDJ in the October update:

2cat_20171001_z500_months24_global_deter

Now I realise we are only on the first day of December, but with a positive height anomaly in the Atlantic modelled for the next 10 days or so, it's not looking too accurate.

So far. :ninja:

So seasonal models miles out already. What a surprise, not

Ec46 was junk too last winter from what I remember. So hope it does show very mild for 30 days in a row.Wont be happening :db:

Anyway looking at the models, think I’m going to visit the Highlands in a week or so,as it looks like they are going to get hammered with snow.

Just visit there if you want your snow fix

For a bunch of guys and gals who seem quite intelligent people’s inability to use the word ‘too’, correctly is bewildering often making the post hard to read.

I don’t like to mention it because of the celebrity status he has but SM is the worst.

There, I’ve said it. I’ll get my coat.
