Scandinavia has been poor too, but then again you wouldn't expect a scorcher there!

Another grim outlook this morning - so much for the warm and settled spell. Even here in the south it's looking more like October than August. I think it's time to throw in the towel for any proper Summer weather this month :(

Yes i have suffered from hayfever this year for the 1st time, not pleasant at all. Much more comfortable for sleeping and working in the past week with a noticeable drop in daylight to. The models continue to show nothing summer-like in the extended.

I wish some of Lucifer's heat would make it our way but of course that won't ever happen.  This is Britain, the grey land of perpetual late autumn.  Appears it's time to dig out my SAD lamp.

Well it's looking like we won't get anymore summer heat, apart from the odd warmer settled day,

so summer is now autumn and I suppose we will get a wet crappy winter of yuk too! So probably no decent weather now till April next year! Time to emigrate

I'm always wary of calling an 'end' to a season early, there's still time for some summery weather to head our way. Nothing indicating that happening at least for a fortnight, so Autumn continues. How depressing!

I'm off to Texas in September, so if all fails here, at least it'll be nice and hot there :-)

I can't see any evidence that a hot summer or a cold winter is due. I would be surprised if one occurred in this decade. If anything I think a poor summer is probable in the next 2 years but not as bad as 2012 I would guess

I agree Matthew: 'we haven't had one for x-number of years' in no way equates to 'this year will be the one'!:D

I love the heat, so it'll be perfect for me and certainly beats our miserable weather :-)

I don't think it'll be as hot and humid as when I went to Vietnam in June - that was extreme. One day the local airport recorded an air temperature of 38 with a dew point of 28. I think that's the most oppressive heat I've ever experienced!

It would be hell for me! But I also don't like hot and dry, it gives me a dusty feeling which I used to experience in July and August in Greece. I remember the trees would shed their leaves just to preserve water. :-(

Well I am off to Carcassonne in France for a change of life and climate.Today is fine but the last 4-5 summers in Scotland (in Fife at least) have been awful on the whole. As much as I love Scotland my french wife has to have a hot water bottle chained to her hip. Even the winters have become mild and wet. What ever happened to the seasons :(

Autumn proper looks here, at least away from the S/SE, but as in many years, wouldn't rule out an Indian summer in sept/0ct, normally a break in the westerlies around then

Yes one feels our wretched climate is now becoming relatively predictable...

Of course before anyone shoots me there will be exceptions but i would say the following..

1 summers are rubbish the further away from the SE one heads.

2 winters are mild - Atlantic driven most of the time

3 'summer' has a tendancy to arrive now in sept/oct

In other words if one enjoys seasonal weather, your goosed.
