Not a good time for for deep depressions especially for folk moving around the country at this buisy festive time :sorry:

Better that than snow.

That's my only concern with the output at present.  Parts of the south need rain to avoid problems should we have a hot summer, but none of us, other than the most insensitive, wants anything like the winter of 2013-14 again.

What an absolute joke of a climate we have in the uk.

At least those in the south get the compensation of warm summers...

The truth is we don't suffer from hurricanes, typhoons etc, severe tornadoes, gigantic hailstones, inferno heatwaves, very severe cold, rarely from severe droughts etc

We don't suffer like other areas of the world can suffer with the weather. And we don't suffer from active volcanoes and severe earthquakes.

We are fortunate in this regard.

Looking at the output thankfully we have met long range to cling onto. Having just had 3 days in Lapland and seeing 3 foot of level snow and 1 foot falling in 24 hours I have had my snow fix because it looks awhile before seeing anymore.

Bit unfair most have seen a very good start to winter Midlands north not so south of M4 but hopefully our time will come. Many have seen the snowiest period since 2013 in a relatively short early time period.

Best snow where I live since 2010. And winter is only 15days old. This winter just feels different to the last few

It's all so darned sad...I mean, the building blocks were all perfectly in place - and then a few peeps decided to blow their own trumpets...and the walls came tumbling down!:D

Can't really expect constant cold and snow all winter, would be great for us coldies but unrealistic with the usual maritime climate. I think late month into January will be good if cold and snow is your thing.

Hard to distinguish one thread from another at the moment, what with all the wailing and whining from the same culprits year on year, you'd think they might have learnt something by now! Time to take a break and come back when some sense has been restored...

Best enjoy the crisp, cold conditions whilst we have them. may not see it again for a good while.

Not sure all the moaning is warranted this morning. Compare December weather in recent years to this one. So far, we've had several potent northerlies which have given many areas of the UK either falling snow, settling snow or both. Even my area, 4 miles from Heathrow, saw 1.5 days of lying snow. That's rare as hens teeth in December. Ok, parts of the S didn't see much snow but we all know that won't happen until we get an E'ly. In the meantime, we might see a few weeks of slightly milder weather, which is the norm for us in NW Europe. A snow free Christmas is ideal, no awful transport chaos or dramas trying to use crappy British roads. After that....there's January and February to come, the months where the vast majority of cold and snowy weather occurs. Plenty to be positive about, imho!

A snow free Christmas ideal?.....oh dear you southern softies are getting worse!:D......Not like us up North,we can take anything thrown at us,do we EVER moan about the weather!? As if we would....:nonono:

If that 27th December chart was to happen now we'd probably be looking at -4 uppers and precipitation in mild sectors :p

Yes my uncle is in Poland and the winters are getting milder there too...

Having spent the last two Christmases in Warsaw and Krakow respectively, in the rain, I'm quite looking forward to spending it in similar conditions for no cost here in the UK lol.

no, there would be -16 uppers and blizzards.

but there would be a sudden tectonic shift a day before and the UK would end up just south of the azores.... :D
