Looks bleak for coldies this morning-

cant find any postives this morning , at all!

Resigned myself to a mild christmas just hoping this horrid pattern doesn't take care of the period between chrsitmas and new year- you have to say if EC/GFS are anywhere near the ball at day 10, it looks a long long way from anything approaching cold for western europe,or much of the europe for that matter.:nonono:

Looks like the wheels are coming off at a rapid rate!!

Looks like we're possibly heading for the 3rd mild to very mild xmas running, well in these parts anyway. Really entering the litmus test for this winter now I fancy, the last few winters have shown once we get into very mobile Atlantic conditions it can go on for weeks on end...will this winter be any different?

After what seemed to be a promising start to winter, anyone else getting the feeling it is starting to go belly up already?  Very early days I know but don't like the trends emerging........

I would-nt be so sure my freind!

Stronger beleive' that the milder incursion.....will be just that an' incursion and likely of a temporary nature!..

21/22 dec- things look like taking a nose dive again...

'London ens'...

For highlight....

So if trends are your preference...

This is a trend to be eyeing?

Thanks for the info and hope it will be a temporary mild spell.  The last few winters have been stinkers!

With the possibility of a Slider on Christmas day  , I thought i'd post a picture of the last one I experienced back in 1972

Xmas day slider will be completely gone on next run, not consistent and too far ahead,

Yeah it won't be there but it's good to see some variation in the runs. It almost seemed like it wasn't going to let go of that mild outcome

Looks like I returned from the dead just in time. Models are trying to push for the atypical winter pattern for the UK ala Mild and Wet...

Whilst even for my tastes, the last few days have been a tad too cold, I would prefer the average of 8-9 C or so, over double figures with cloud and dullness.

Having said that, the ECM was trying for the same thing for this week not long ago and it never got its way then.

If you hate feeling cold, like I and most cold rampers do, you should love the cold too. Ironically temperatures below freezing, like - 2- - 5 feel much better than close to 0 temperatures. Humidity  and moisture just sap your energy and warmth

Well when you're the PV and you can't settle down at home you may as well send the kids for an early winter break in Cornwall!!

Let’s hope it’s slides across the north east this time nick , as I committed your cardinal sin and purchased a sledge last time :(

Nah lets hope it shifts so far south it ends up an M4 south event!

I've got a feeling that's the end of our 'front loaded' winter!

It's now back to the normal mild boring stuff for at least the next 3/4 weeks!

O god i hope not, at least plenty of peeps have seen snow/lying snow this Dec :)

This cold spell has been nothing down here,in fact for a lot of the South,,only a couple of hours of snow falling Monday morning, nothing on the ground.

Might as well have normal winter weather, warmer rain is better than cold rain.

Looks like a long wait for a proper cold spell, looking at the model output this morning.

Lets hope the experts in the model thread are correct when they say they expect big changes in the output at the end of the year.
