Gfs and its ens far more appetising than ukmo or  ecm but im not changing my opinion on gfs despite it showing what i want to see.

That ruddy azores high sticking its fat ugly nose in, funny thing is it will be 500 miles west in summer..

At least it should get colder, esp at night.

It either snows for 10 days in a row OR it gets warm and brings in an early Spring.

Dry and cold? A big fat zero from me if that is what we end up with a week or so from now.

Right. Staying up lampost watching for snow is one thing. But is there  anyone else on here who stays up "mod thread watching" to check how near the lampost watching is getting?!!

This picture sums up just how 'lucky' the UK is at staying warm.

This is a map of the freezing level on earth.

That's rare though (+3 uppers), even if the surface is bitter, if the uppers are +ve you can get freezing rain.

Tell me about it, had freezing rain here in dover just last week, very slippery school run. Kids seemed to enjoy it though.

I go to bed dreaming of the nice igloo, and hope we don't end up getting the nasty igloo

When you have had 3 days of snowfall in 6 years, you kind of give up.

I know the next forecaster period of cold weather will bring nothing for me, but plenty for everyone else i am sure.

Not quite yet ! A non event ,but the models do seem to like to drag out the drama of getting an easterly in,the ukmo and gfs look pretty good ,ecm not so,why is it nearly impossible to get all 3 models in perfect agreement ,trouble is when one model backs away from a colder outlook ,it's nearly always that model that is usually correct,it just so hard for UK to get a decent easterly blast because of our location, time will tell,it's not over yet !

That just summarises the UK's fortunes to a tee. The only place in the world where a warm plume gets that far N.

Ecm i bet is not gonna get any better.  Been doing that all winter, thinking it would eventually come in line with the other models, it never did.  Stuck to its guns like the ukm that time. Remember when every model apart from ukm was calling an easterly and ukm was spot on.  That's exactly what will happen with the ecm this time.

Well think the downgrades have started by the looks of things not surprised though.

I've seen nothing suggest this cold spell is nothing more than another FI tease, showing all the hall marks of the previous FI teases.

Roll on Spring!

Stop knee-jerking to every single run from every model, particularly when the output is for a week or so hence.

Did the same myself and back to reality with a huge bump. Very easy to get taken in by all the rampers. Models have been playing games all winter really, don't see the point of following models that far out anymore what the point of having a model watching hobby that's never right.
