Always 10 ten days away until anything any good on the horizon and then watered down. This winter is going the way of the last few. Dreadful.

yes, our locations look pants for snow, can rule out any snow in west midlands until Mid Jan

The window believe it or not is actually one of the most accurate models with a very high success rate with CFS following not too far behind :drunk-emoji:

I've heard of that model. The Window gives 100% reliability and is never wrong! The Window 12Z shows that it's dry outside right now.

could this be my first ever snowless winter, had a bit last year in Nov and Jan

The worst part is the the weather doesn't even make up for it in huge heatwaves, like they promised us in the 80s. It just gets blander and blander, less and less interesting weather to keep us happy.

I even get excited when in rains now, because that's as severe as the weather seems able to to get. We've not even had a single thunderstorm here this year, no hoar frost, no freezing fog, no gales, no snow, no heatwave worth mentioning, no hail, no rainbows. Just one endless dull grey autumn. :-(

Well for my neck of the woods, these potential northerly blasts will be a right treat with some beefy snow showers blowing in from north sea :yahoo:

Oh dear, I really do think some need to put things in perspective, it's fine having a weather hobby, but there really are more important things in life, get a grip!

I must admit the Midlands snow shield (unless you're high up) has been a little too annoyingly strong in the last few years. An axe, a box of dynamite, the apocalypse - nothing can seem to blow it up!

It's just fortunate there's still a few months to go for snow chances. All it would take is for a few favourable adjustments in the models to start putting that snow shield under threat. Even if it was to remain mostly dry in the next week or two, hopefully this Winter will still pull out some kind of wintry surprise. The cold/snow enthusiasts in the region (myself included) certainly could do with a dollop of the stuff!

You said a couple of weeks ago, zonality to 26th January to Ian "Shropshire" Brown zonality challenge.

Anyone who hinges their predictions on what Ian 'Shropshire' Brown says is a very silly person indeed.

Have you seriously never known a completely snow free winter?

I've only lived in the West Midlands since 2006 and have known them in other locations I've lived, so rather than getting down about your post, it's actually quite reassuring to read that a snowless winter is rare around here.

not quite, obviously snow is getting less and less, but even in 13-14 saw some on 11 Feb

Pretty poor models tonight. At least for central Europe. Once ice day at best, otherwise above average temperatures in the first five days of 2017.

It's the site owners attempt to wreck his own forum ... rather odd place now.

There's an oddball or 3 on every forum though & not just on weather forums, as is life!

Yes i left myself, some good people over on TWO - i think they are cracking down now, some of the trolling was  not even subtle.Obviously the site owner decides who can join but i found it absolutely incredible he allowed certain ex banned members to return , obviously its turned sour.....thankfully this site owner has introduced the ignore function - an amazing way of reducing problems.
