967.86 - I don't think I have ever seen air pressure drop so rapidly - I'm glad I'm well North though - because I reckon I would suffer from a terrible headache in that sort of rapid pressure drop. Out of interest - how fast (or is it far) does a pressure drop have to be before it is declared a pressure "bomb"?

Belting it down with rain here for a while, but calm as anything out there, max gust of 7mph so far...

Whats the elevation? I've been sort of expecting snow around there looking at the radar and temperatures on NW.

Snow now becoming light/moderate.

Thick cloud cover still 2.oC.

Snow blowing in the wind but not settling... I'm going to drive on a remote road 5 miles inland and 77ft higher in elevation. Still within north Yorkshire.

It's a shame you can't provide a live feed when it kicks off - but please do stay safe!

Snowing very heavily and settling on the A465 in South Wales. Torrential, driving sleet where I am. From the traffic cams:

I wanted to have a look but they must have georestrictions on the site? It just says "No CCTV Found" for like everything!

That's a possibility, Andrew. Sorry about that.

It's still going strong up there (it's a high altitude motorway: 375m, to be precise) and I'll post a few more captures if I'm still awake. :)

That would be good - I have to live vicariously through everyone else at the moment - apparently just living in Scotland isn't enough to get snow :cold: Low temperatures... yup.... Snow.... if we are VERY lucky.

Well, here's the latest. For reasons unknown to me, the cameras alternate between black and white and colour.

Well, much of Southeast Wales has altitude on its side. We'd be entirely snow-starved like the rest of Southern Britain if we didn't, and much worse off than you up in the Borders!

Thank you very much. It's down to light level - when there is a lot of snow on the ground which makes the picture brighter and hence the camera receives more light - then it passes the threshold where it can switch to colour mode, the camera that is seeing more sky than road though even if the entire road is covered with snow - the sky is black so it will stay in night mode until the sky gets light - OR - very very heavy snow falling in front of the camera makes the picture bright enough to switch out of night mode.

Gusts to 135 km/hr in Guernsey and on northwest tip Cherbourg Peninsula (0300z) and sustained winds from ship report near Cherbourg Peninsula 67 knots, if accurate a cat-1 hurricane intensity.

Would expect peak gusts to hit IOW east to Sussex coast around 0500h, 120 km/hr likely. Peak gusts inland for places such as London Heathrow probably 90-100 km/hr.

Heavy snow will likely develop over higher portions of Wales and perhaps Cotswolds, more likely Pennines, around dawn.

Thunderstorms with possible wind damage should be monitored for development 0500-0800 across the southeast as the storm is rapidly occluding. Potential for localized gusts to 140 km/hr with these.

There isn't much in the way of strong winds over here at the moment, but it is certainly chucking it down and it is cold. And at an air pressure of 980 mb, I am very sure it will get quite windy soon.

Am I right in seeing on current conditions that the low-center is heading more NE'ly, but the precipitation forecast has gone slightly more west than forecast. I'm marshalling a ultra-race in the Pennines today around Marsden and any unexpected snowfall may have some impact on the race.
