Heavy rain all night and a nice big puddle on my lawn. Seems to be further north than forecast which resulted in my location being on the milder southern edge of the band.

Few flakes blowing around now but a case of what could have been.

Might see some snow over the high road to work.

1.6C slowly dropped to 1.4C over the last half hour or so. Very wet ground outside but the rain is now trying to fall as wet snow.

Surprised to see very few of us have any notable snow given the warnings. Underwhelming, which has been the theme for this winter so far.

Update: 1.2C and definitely snow now, which is actually beginning to lie on the grass cars etc, shocked.

Continuous, heavy wet snow falling here  - the sort that crumples and slips down car windscreens and just catches on grass.  Untreated roads could be quite treacherous though.

Balfron is like Auchterarder - it has it's own microclimate.

Same with Dunblane, it's a whiteout up there, yet 2 miles down the road, it's raining.

It is trying bless it! But to be honest I think there's more chance of me accumulating 10 winning teams at the weekend than accumulating 10cm of lying snow today! I'm moving to the Lomond hills

Snowing here and has been since about 3 ish. I got woke up by what sounded like light hail on the windows. I don't usually get precip hitting my side as northish facing. Looked out and there was a dusting this morning, now there is about maybe an inch and it's still coming down, not big flakes but reasonably heavy. Hope we get another blast before the precip goes.

@asjmcguire don't blame the optimist for your own misfortune!! It's a little sleety here at the minute so I'm thinking my timings were a little early, that's all!! Plenty of time left...

Oh it's been sleety here..... all night.... it's just that it's been far too warm.

It's snowing quite nicely at the moment but despite a decent start we couldn't improve on the early covering with the precipitation being too wet until now. There's a covering of slushy snow on the grass and roofs which is better than nothing but it's very underwhelming we couldn't sustain the snow during the hours expected to be best. We have proper snow just now but it's too little too late and it's  disappointing and frustrating to end up with damp surfaces and a slushy covering after the promising start and what could have been if it had kept snowing. It's a familiar outcome, and typical of this winter. It appears the front ended up being further north than expected which changed everything and it seems to have been underwhelming in many parts including areas in the amber zone and with altitude which is a bit surprising. It goes to show how difficult it is to forecast these events even up to the last minute and subsequently it's often difficult to achieve proper, substantial snow when it falls in these islands.
