So, having been pretty much bone dry here for the entirety of the most recent cold spell - as is always the case with easterlies in Inverness, being probably the most sheltered part of Scotland from this direction), the wind has finally veered NE here and the showers are moving in from the Moray firth!

Currently all white at -3'C, next shower incoming.

Not bothering to go downstairs to check the temp on the weather station display in the kitchen as I know it's currently raining just from listening to it rattle off the velux window in the en-suite. A quick glance out shows the snow that we did have turning into a slushy mess. Not looking like a day to entice you out.

Apparently still snowing up the hill inland from Buckie (although I doubt my source, he's not the most trustworthy), but intermittent rain on the coast and.... <stifles yawn>

Yep, snow gone, grey skies, raining and quite unpleasant.

It was clear around midnight, though, providing good views of the penumbral lunar eclipse.

It's a foul day outside, wet and breezy but cool. While I'd still like to see some decent snow I wouldn't mind some unseasonably warm and sunny weather now. This ***waves hand vaguely at living room window*** is a waste of time. Not having a strop just being realistic :)

Couldn't agree more - time for spring now ! Seen about 0.5mm of lying snow (for about 15 mins) all winter

Seems strange  calling off winter in the middle of February doesn't it?   We have all had mild winters before but this one has been really odd!

2.1c/1.4c/NNE - wind picking up and raining.

Same here at 0.5c but every so often it turns back to snow.We have about 5cm of very wet snow on top of frozen ground.

Oh man, seems I went in the wrong direction yesterday.  More like 4 mm here.

Morning all! I see we have some happy campers on here today! It's been glorious here for the past four days, gin clear skies, frosty patterns, temps down to -3 here this morning. Not one flake of the white stuff here although Mr MistyQ informed me at 8.30 yesterday morning that there was light snow in Portree. Another stonkingly gorgeous day today, so I'd best get off and find all the bird feeders and fill 'em up!

:nonono:Throws in towel........gutted at this spell.....i had such high hopes.....oh well I promised the kids if sledge was not out by end of February I would take them to braehead sledging indoors so I better get my wallet looked out....

Fleck you winter of 16/17 and now I am resigned to winters over and dreaming of golfing no doubt we will have a bitterly cold and frosty but non snowy March

Happy for @mardatha though

You should move uphill before your children murder you with their eyes... a juvenile lynch mob is not a pleasant experience.   'Daddy, can you throw the rope over the tree please?'

Well my streamer that I've been barking on about set up exactly as I'd hoped, heaviest precipitation setting up from the forth right over my head........ but it's f**king sleety, slushy s***e. One tiny wee drop in temps and it would have been a wee jackpot here. Not even moderately amused!

He took this one earlier, it's still falling now but very fine and it's not lying. Stuff on the ground gone all slushy and wet. Take it the rain is on the way now.

Intermittent dustings (think icing sugar) of snaw yesterday and overnight. Also, a quality hail shower yesterday afternoon. All gone now as the Winter of Meh continues. Overall, very dry thus far. Reminds me somewhat of 2005-06. It had a late easterly, too.

Kinda bored of this winter now. Beginning to look forward to summer already and hoping the anomalously dry weather continues...

Currently: drab, grey, cauld. 4.3C/2C
