Apart from @Hairy Celt, @Hawesy and @101_North (we'll call them the HH1 squad for short) these charts should mean any precip falls as snow. That's IF you see any precip. The 950 temps are so low I thought I'd clicked on the wrong chart:

They are impressive Catch though it's interesting to note the low level modification from the North Sea. 1pm air temps are generally 3-5c despite the very cold 850s and 950s.

I feel our best chance will come later this afternoon and tonight but I'd be amazed if anyone sees more than a cm or two at best and most of us not even that.

I need some of Edo's optimism!

I'm not ashamed to admit it's waning hawesy....I expected/hoped to be seeing upgrades by now and little surprises popping up but sadly this is becoming less and less likely

Can you add me to the HH1 massif please.

Stirling has a solar powered snowshield which never gets turned off.

[edit - see what I mean]

Certainly far from giving up hope on it yet, putting my parochial Edinburgh/Leith hat on for a second, we do need the circulation/wind direction to gradually back to the East, and then hit ENE. If it does that and the window stays open long enough then we should see something in the next 24-36 hours. Anything S of East though and we'll be gazing at lampposts in the dark for flakes falling at the rate of 1 per minute...

Dry, dreich, dismal (again!)   Temperature here has been cemented at 3c since yesterday evening.   What a peculiar season this has been.

Took the dog on his first train run to Burntisland today to give him the experience  because we are taking him on hols down south with us this year.   He coped very well.   However, he kept sniffing around the floor which, to my surprise and dismay, was actually filthy with rubbish and bits of food lying everywhere.   The seats were none to clever either.   Not a good tourism advert.   Very disappointing as it looked as if it hadn't been cleaned for days. (moan over.)

'Twas ever thus in Britain in my experience - half the population seem to regard train as a Public Convenience to be abused however they wish. (Not just Britain, but seems worse here than most of Europe.)

I've got pals in southern BC who have seen 1 metre of snow fall in the last few days, and THIS is the worst that our feeble excuse for a winter can deliver.

It's just embarrassing  Embarrassing I tell you!!!!

We've got about the same here, still falling but it's as fine as sand.

Your misery is probably environmentally induced - mine's genetic :whistling:

Has @Ravelinbeen in today? He should be getting more snow than anyone else... Perhaps he's cut off by 10' drifts already!

Also, stoopid Q for @Benvironment - where's BC?

Or he's individually weighing each piece of graupel that's fallen. I used to do that in Crail during 'major' snow events.:D

Talking of proper snow Boston is getting hammered right now. Parts of New England could see up to 18". http://at.bc.edu/webcams/oneill/

Proper moderate snow in Portgordon and Buckie just now although it's only settling on cars so far.  And I'm only about 50 yards from the shore... Not quite BC territory!

Light snow shower here has left a thin cover on most surfaces. Just eased off a minute ago.
