Can't tell you what the weather is like here now as I can't see it due to the fog.

12hz (left) raising an interest possibility compared to the 6hz (right) with cold uppers making their way in much quicker.

A lot of its too warm in February for snow to ly in the model thread but in the sixties February was the best month for days off school due to drifting snow and frosts especially at night were at their severest. Sea temperatures were at their lowest too and cold air crossing was less modified and given that we are heading to the time of year when N and E winds are at their greatest frequency then  historically  the chances of snow in the next few weeks are very high . Currently a breeze from the SE dry , clear and 6.5c.

Dunno about lasting snow in Cornwall, but that thread is definitely full of total melts.

A little bit of optimism for  future winters http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-38156621 Even for the end of this one as sun has been very quiet since New Year

Reading the MT is like eating baked alaska blindfold... or perhaps having baked alaska smeared across your chest by your favourite weather forecaster? dear me I'd better stop.

Nice mild and sunny day today, hardly a breath this morning.

Ehm, well, <blushes>

I know what you mean though, one poorish run last night and it was back to doom and gloom. Better runs this morning and the mood has switched back. Even if the weather isn't predictable at least the MT is.

Well yesterday here was pretty grey and misty, even foggy at times. Today is very grey and gloomy. Dry but feels damp, just a light breeze. Temp gradually climbing to just over 8C but it's pretty much been flatlining since Monday.

From 8th February  1969 made it to  secondary school after  2 hours in the school bus driving  six miles in  a blizzard only to be turned round and sent home.Took another two hours to get home the same six miles with the last mile on foot(Bus got stuck) because of three to four foot drifts  with my sister in a whiteout. The snow was frozen to our eyelashes walking up the farm road in  a strong north wind at -5c at  midday. February can still be wintry up here.

Kept the weather maps  from my Grannys Daily Telegraph as it was so memorable20170202_151958.thumb.jpg.d6f9648731e6c36f22190b968552146a.jpg20170202_152006.thumb.jpg.6ebac9d42c56c45139e419f33a24b831.jpg20170202_152131.thumb.jpg.1ac635d1c39d766a144c7783239085c7.jpgAlmost spring like today with a soft south wind this afternoon and a high of 12c

Happy Candlemas.

If Candlemas Day be dry and fair,
the hauf o the winter's tae come and mair;
If Candlemas Day be wet and foul,
the hauf o the winter's gane at Yule.

Today: occasionally wet, grey/black, dreich, mild and getting blawy now.

Darren Bett in weather form.

Meanwhile, over at the TOORPing 12-Step Programme Outreach Centre, the hunt for the next (phantom) Beasterly is on - and it's all 'stella boom boom' time.

Tonight's UKMO 168 chart is 'not without interest' (and hello to Jason Isaacs).

Morning all! Blustery and mild here, much the same as it's been all week. I await with interest updated charts for two weeks hence when I am supposed to be driving to Stirling for the weekend. We'll see!

If this bloody awful weather goes on much longer I'll be so bored I'll be forced to do something drastic.

Like housework or god forbid..... COOKING.

Life can get no worse.

Clearing up here now to sun (nice to see it again) and a stiff breeze. It was around 8C at home when I left the house.

Yep.    Quite a nice morning here now.    Was a bit blowy last night.         Had a peep into the MT this am and it appears that easterly is off ,  its back on ,  its off ,  its back on,  winters over ,  the beast is back.... ZZZzzzzzzz

Which one?   The giggly one or the one with a touch of MLB..........(If she's referencing a UK map, then she's totally obliterated the Azores!)
