Met o has just probably jinxed it for us in the central belt by issuing a weather warning for snow     :help:

Sunny intervals, rain showers,  a cutting breeze from the north sums up today's weather. Temp 4C.

I disturbed a huge flock of Redwings, at a guestimate 100+, when out and about this morning.

Latest Euro4 stalls the front more than the previous run, it seems to stall and pivot a lot more. Somewhere is going to get a pasting but it won't be me :)

I'll try the same reverse psychology - it won't be me either!! Except in my case, it really won't snow here because (as usual) I'm right on the coast with no elevation.  Aging beach bum, that's me.

They'll be a bit more interesting to watch - we have a resident flock of about 150 Linnets around the site where I'm working - incessant excited twittering, but not very eye-catching!

Yes, that's the workers covered, but what about the birds?

After checking the forecasts from a few different sites the general consensus is I'll see cold rain, with a little sleet thrown in if I'm really lucky. It is only the start of Nov though.

Met Office going for 5 hours of heavy snow here followed by 9 hours of light snow so a covering looks likely - we shall see!

First snaw of the season forecast tomorrow. Certainly been a drop in temps over the last week. Wast at fireworks in Musselburgh at weekend and the wind chill factor hurt.

Evening !  Been cold and damp here in Balmedie.  Temp hit dizzy heights of 7 earlier but now down to 4.  Will be too Far East to see any of the white stuff tomorrow but to those of you that do, enjoy and stay safe

I heard on the radio this morning that they were predicting snowfall particularly in the Glasgow area. Emphasis probably on area as opposed to the city itself! Nice to see at this time of year though. A very pleasant surprise.

Fascinating model and weather watching at the moment! It's certainly different to last year so far anyway.

I see mention of Redwings. Any sightings yet of the winter speciality - Waxwings? I recall the irruption of a few years ago, was amazing to watch them!

I believe that numerous small flocks of Waxwings have been spotted up and down the east coast recently.

The last time the Beeb forecast a lot of snow for the Highlands (18 hours worth) it lasted for little more than 18 minutes...1992 or '3?

I saw one of those (a flock) in January 2009...They are beautiful birds!

A few Pix from around the lower part of CairnGorm late this afternoon: http://www.winterhighland.info/pix/pixalbum.php?pix_id=1201

There's a few more in the forum from people who were out touring. Should have brought my skis, could easily have skinned up and skied back to the Carpark with hindsight!
