Well I only learned this morning that the ppn type radar is not accuarate, its model driven! I did actualy think the radar could distinguish between a rain drop and a snow flake (which should be possible nowadays) but alas it is not!

I wont be taking as much notice of it now that I know that :)

Well, I've learnt something as well then.  I was under the same understanding as you.  I shan't bother taking too much notice in future. ?

Elevation was the key today! Slushy mess here

True that!

Still can't get my head around how the heaviest precip appeared West of Barnsley, then disintegrated when it got about 10 miles away then only for it to reform heavier again to the East!

Still snowing at Linton, wind has dropped, flakes got massive but now smaller again. Got about 1.5 cm maybe more.

Rubbish as expected here again, just heavy rain throughout. A couple of weeks to go and it'll be 5 years since we had any measurable snow in the winter months (Dec, Jan and Feb).

Surely our luck has to change at some point.

Beeb way over top it's just a light snowfall. Shouldn't really cause an issue.

Would be nice but I'm not buying into it.  None of the other models (Arome, Arpege, NMM, GFS) show this (other than maybe   Snow over the highest ground).

Well that was a bonus. 4cm of snow. Now stopped and never turned to Rain. So we are still in the cold sector.

Or maybe not as we just went from 1.4C to 2.3C in the space of 15 minutes-cue snow melt!

2.5cm here in Bingley with just the odd heavy burst.

Underwhelming again.

The next batch over the Irish sea will only give some hope to peeps above 300m.

In the plus side, models and meto outlook aren't too bad.

Steady thaw as expected with temps of 3.6C showers beginning to move in from the north west and it will be interesting to see what they fall as. There's another band of more organized precipitation and that's worth keeping an eye on if it gets this far.

Tonight looks like round two or possibly three depending on today's showers and more organized precipitation.
