Big flakes of snow here now. Had 3-4cm's fall overnight had sleet for a time this morning, but temp has droped again and this next band is pretty heavy. Already fully covered cleared surfaces.

Snow level overnight here was a bit odd, seems to have been about 100m as Aire valley level was clear.

Just rain with a bit of sleet here. As it always seems over the last few years, if only it was just a couple of degrees cooler.

3.3C at the moment with a dewpoint of 1.7C.

Local forecast still saying rain for Sunday I don't agree as I reckon the rain will be heavy enough to turn it too snow.

Tonight we may get some but at the moment the showers aren't reaching here.

Is that broadly the picture from start to finish on it?

There's certainly a danger of all rain as per the BBC however west and south yorkshire may still get away if all goes right.

Thats the last slide as it only goes out to 42 hr but the North East trajectory points to an all snow event as it skims Yorkshire rather than pushing right through.

The ECM typically has a cautious approach to snowfall projections is bullish as well. The ECM does turn the snow to rain but that's because its trajectory is further west to begin with.

I think the real danger is we'll see a good period of potentially quite heavy snowfall for it only to turn to rain by mid morning. South Yorkshire is most at risk of it turning to rain as well as its a real knife edge situation that far south.

Im not confident on Sunday snow at all. Im sat looking out the window at rain with a bit of crappy sleet mixed in right now, and look at my altitude. Been a very frustrating day in Sheffield again, with some crazy pics of snow in other parts of Yorkshire.

The fact im not seeing snow up here is a real shame, and a bit of a mystery tbh!! :nonono:

I had snow in the afternoon, rain in the prevening and hail after dark.

Your probably losing out because the flow today was pretty westerly so there's plenty of moisture raising dew points a tad. When the front approaches it will draw in E winds ahead of it which for west and south Yorkshire should be less of an issue albeit we are at the mercy of how far north this thing gets (too far north and the uppers warm for us).

Looking less favorable than yesterday local forecast sticking to heavy rain. The only good sign is the heavy rain which hopefully will provide the cooling.  So becoming very marginal for sunny Sheffield right now.

ECM again fairly bullish about leading edge snowfall.

Its 1.c with light snow in North Leeds on high ground, a very promising start before the front arrives. The forecast for now was 3.c and sleet.

Just above freezing here at 0.4C, dew point is just below freezing at -0.3C. This is lower than the forecast was saying.

Wouldn't be surprised to see a bit of snow on the leading edge but I expect rain mostly.
