i really do miss as a kid back then the deep snow, orange skies, and heavy snow or blizzards that re-covered tyre marks n footprints then youd keep peeking out the corner of the window towards the lampost to see if its still snowing and it would be then youd look down at the ground n see even deeper snow!! x

Fascinating he has said Tuesday rather than Thursday for decent snowfall.  Interesting times....

Latest Icon has sheffield as sweet spot out of the whole uk thursday! Right at the pivot point.

Yep, also just spotted that.  Currently showing more than 12 hours of snow Thu into Fri.  Tuesday looks to be much shorter spell.

I do heed a word of caution though, as steve murr has said in the main model thread, These do have a tendancy to correct further south near the time so this is far from being nailed on.

Most of that is for Thursday.... ICON steadily edging a bit northwards for Tuesday but not really there yet for the northern parts of our region.

GFS snow depth charts also look better than they were.

Over the coming days it'll come down to nowcasting as to where gets hit / not, who gets the heaviest / not...... etc. But it looks like an interesting ride.

Best snow fall in my lifetime is March 2013.

I never believe the gfs snow depth charts still like you say interesting week coming up at long last.

This proves how unstable that flow is on Tuesday and shows how it all isn't so straight forward with frontal boundaries! Few surprises for us folk in Yorkshire this week.

Post of the night for me below from the Model Thread in terms of snow chances for this week further North which echoes my thoughts from earlier.  :cold:

Yes a cold and unsettled unstable flow equals snowy surprises regardless of the low track.  That's the theory anyway!

Also helps being in the colder boundary compared to southern counties

Snowing at Seamer station at 6.30am, not quite cold enough to settle, but coming down fast.

Upgrades for our region overnight

Ahhh that explains why it’s pretty quiet on the hunt for south snow thread. Our upgrade means a downgrade for them
