Pavements and roads look OK here so far in Keighley. Freezing rain has made our driveway treacherous though. I wouldn't go out unless you have to.

does anyone know what the roads are like driving to leeds? or in and around center?

I'm outside city centre and it's fine. Wet cold but not slippy. Some freezing rain on my car but went out in trainers and pavements are fine, roads no worries.

Light rain here temps rising.

Just a normal mid December night

What's all the fuss and met office hype.

Currently cant find anyone in North Yorkshire with snow, even at 400m plus where its -1/2c still.

Reports of severe freezing rain at these locations though where you cant even stand up outside.

Bouncing down with rain now. Pavement has is glittering in places which suggest ice waiting for the unwary.

please will someone explain to me where n how this inversion is causing the rain. its so frustrating with sub zero temps. as someone said this wud hav been a great blizzard. why is this same zone not affecting scotland where there uppers were warmer!!

still think meto got this wrong with symbols n wording. blizzards was mentioned this morning and just on high ground. mainly doesnt mean totally!! but theres no snow up there anyway! last nite bbc were saying 5cm most of yorks! 20cm scotland. never admit thete mistakes!!

Sausage,  think of the atmosphere like a sponge cake, so viewed side on there are lots of layers such as the bottom sponge, then jam, then cream and then more sponge.

In the atmosphere if any one of those layers is above 0c then it will melt the snow from higher up and it can't then be turned back in to it. The bottom layer where we are can still be cold, as it is today but of course we just then get the melted snow ie rain.

Just dropped wife at the LGI. Roads were fine but that was 30 mins ago. May have changed but the 4 mile drive back home was also without problem. Hope this helps

Lost power here for an hour and a half. I absolute hate Freezing Rain, it really is the only type of weather that is no fun for anyone and a complete pain to deal with.

iPhone weather app suggesting it is snowing in Sheffield right now. Just had a look and it still looks like rain to me! I’m at 150m asl.

Any snow elsewhere in Sheffield?

Hype???

Just seems a little ott for my area it's nothing more than a band of moderate rain gusty winds and 3.oC.

I've had worse weather here with no warning.  It's just my observation and opinion I'm sure you respect that.
