Look North still showed South York's under heavy snow moving West

Seems a bit at odds with the radar though would you say?  Looks like it might pass to our North at the moment unless it changes track slightly?

Look North weather encouraging for more southern areas of our region later tonight with the precip band supposedly pepping up as it heads for landfall. I am aware the same graphics as the evening forecasts were used though so quite likely to be out of date IMO.

On the plus side later Friday looks good!

Agreed the precip needs to change course a little (highly unlikely IMO) or, as a more likely scenario, expand in coverage later tonight.

Well interprit that latest weather forcast as you will but. It’s exactly what has been predicted snow showers really pepping up after the low moves to the SW then Wednesday looks like it’s going to pack in the showers some prolonged almost anywhere and maybe Thursday also. If we have a quieter day on Thursday that could spell the low is moving up and could reach us again as they’ve said on the forcast still a little unclear of the track... pleanty of snow pics please tomorrow and Wednesday guys.:yahoo:

met office removed all snow for us on friday. Dont think its going to make it this far north :(

If that system remains South though we could remain in a straight Easterly flow as per the 12z UKMO run in which case the cold and snow showers will continue to pile in from the North Sea right through the weekend?

That is one possibility anyway!

Heavy snow symbols are gone from the met app on my phone. Still looking forward to the showers though :)

It all looks to be expanding quite rapidly to me so I don't quite understand why some on here are losing their bottle lol. If anything we should be getting more confident of a more widespread event imo.

Love the way people pin all hopes on the Look North forecast. Unfortunately it’s not updated to include latest radar so isn’t going to be 100% accurate in this scenario.

If you look at the radar now, it all seems further west, so areas likely to be worst affected include central/western parts of North Yorkshire and West Yorkshire.

it is possible that it could pep up a bit on the eastern side, which is what I’m hoping for, otherwise I’ll be disappointed!

Hope you're right although you are probably a little better placed than us in South Yorkshire?

I really wouldn't lose hope for those in South Yorkshire. It is still evolving.

Met office and BBC weather now has a mixture of heavy and light snow from midnight onwards.  Total upgrade

Believe it when I see it in the AM

Night folks

Hello, could anybody please tell me the direction the low is travelling in please. Is the low heading more south or more west; thanks.

If possible could you give the direction as a compass heading.

Have a look on the radar

You can visually see it yourself

Coming down heavier here in York than what the radar suggests. Not heavy but it's settling readily.

I’ve checked the radar but can’t quite determine whether the low is moving any further south, was just wondering if anyone could help.

Although on the radar you can’t see the whole system as yet it’s still developing in the North Sea.?

That’s why some people are miss interpreting it to miss us completely... You won’t start seeing it properly until the early hours and as it comes over land..
