Well tonights 18z run will be the one to watch regarding tomorrow morning, hopefully that large mass of precip is shifted slightly eastwards

More detailed ICON chart. Seems to hit just North of Leeds.

Not a great chart for South Yorkshire that. I would suggest warning are in line with Euro4. Run that sequence through

Arpege looks better. Not sure which is more reliable, or if the MetO use either in their forecasts.

This is the 06z APERGE.  Don't think 12z has run yet?

As much as that would give us one happy sausage I would rather go with the Meto than the ICON on this occasion!

As ever it will be a case of radar watching - could go slightly north or south of what the models are showing. The current amber warning probably covers the MetO's backs nicely whatever happens.

Agreed! The MET have the best short range model in the world in the UKV

I understand from some quarters that HIRLAM has actually performed best in recent weeks.  Not sure what that is showing at the moment?

I'd take that.  Covers most bases! :)

The good thing about the met office warning is that they see it as quite highly likely to occur, unlike earlier warnings that were low likelihood.

12Z HIRLAM already has it larger and a touch more west than its 6Z predicted for the same time.

Makes landfall about the same spot but is larger area of precip.

Ok HIRLAM now has it barreling through our region dropping 4cm an hour almost everywhere as it goes, carriers on through to Wales only dying out there. Means a good chance of 5cm's widely but anything beyond that is unlikely as its only going to be heavy for a few hours with the bulk gone before 6am.

Hirlam 12z looks good, and as mentioned above a bit more widespread.

Had light snow falling here for almost an hour now, carries on at this rate and we might get a cm on ground by dawn. :D
