First showers appearing near Whitby Scarborough area just out to sea ??

There's tracking to far north for us on my radar www.raintoday.co.uk.

For the showers to fall in the Hull area they should be with you around 2am in the morning and more beyond.

They should appear on the  radar around 11pm.

Hull looking good tomorrow evening and overnight into Tuesday.

Let's hope the A63 stays open.

If the low comes off for Thursday into Friday we could see most of the UK under a Amber warning something I’ve never seen...

I think a RED warning may appear and flash warnings.

It's been 27 years since I've seen a BBC weather forecaster seem very concerned about winter weather.

How far north are we expecting the low to go?

I'm not convinced about its northerly track.....

I've got to say, if you're sitting on the North York Moors or in The Wolds right now (Lincolnshire or Yorkshire), I think the next week will be pretty memorable.

Aye I'm pretty excited, I reckon we'll have bout a foot. Expecting some massive drifts over Blakey ridge.

Nobody really knows yet. It could hit us. But it could also miss us completely. Think it’s track won’t be nailed down till Wednesday night to be truthful.

Just note the track is very unclear at this time but if you go on the country files forecast the whole of England & Ireland and lots of Scotland would benefit from the low.. again still very unclear as to how far north.

The low pressure is trying to push north and east on its natural progression it's a warm front meeting a cold airflow.

I maybe wrong but we can't lose in terms of snow. Because if the low pressure doesn't track as far north we keep the shower active Easterly for longer..

It's a weather forecasting nightmare at the moment 27 years was the last time I saw this happening. And even then this current situation seems far worse imo

There are fronts ahead of the low that provide the snowy precipitation as the low stalls to the SW before being forced east. Those in the sweet spot would see a lot of the snow without the issue of milder uppers turning it to rain.

Here is the ICON 18z for midday Tuesday, showing the small (polar?) low over our region giving many of us a significant covering of snow as it heads SW.

It would be freezing rain at that and the freezing rain not reaching Yorkshire by Friday with our minus uppers. Not seen the 850's yet.

GFS 18z looking very snowy for Tuesday...

The rest of the run isn't great. There's some snow on Friday but milder uppers for most of us during the weekend.
