We all don't live on low ground though do we,places with higher elevation will be the impact from those said warnings.

Both are impacted according to that. Low ground 1-3 cm

High ground10cm's

Those warnings don't exist. Is it an error cos they were yesterday's warnings

Minds if it does snow will have all melted by 11am like today, seems to me like a waste if day temp does not stay around freezing. We need an easterly or northery  with at least - 8 850hpa before we get really excited. Sorry for been a bore lol

It is bizzare!  Everything points to rain but that BBC forecast suggested widespread snow as does the Meto text forecast for tonight!

Still can't see anything except a rain fest here but who knows what will happen?

Lamp post to the rescue?!

When looking at xc weather low looks slightly north of where it should be and also deeper than it should be right now!!its at 985mb already!!this could be dangerous for wales and central england wind wise!!

I think we'll have temporary slush in the very heavy bursts washed away half hour after

I know one thing,it will be all rain in hull, lying snow is a thing of the past it seems here in east Yorkshire.

The City of Hull only gets lying snow from an Easterly or a North easterly nowadays..............that has been true for at least a decade or so Mike ( as you know )

( Swanland / South Cave / Beverley ......15 miles away can get 6 inches in numerous set ups .......but for Hull it has to be a perfect storm ( sadly )

It's more to do with the setups being extremely marginal in recent years. -5C or -6C 850hPa temps just wont do, it needs to be -7C or -8C at least ideally. In a direct easterly I've known rain at -8C 850hPa before now. The most reliable setup is a NNE blast with at least -8C 850hPa temps, but in recent years they've been all but extinct in the winter months. You're right though, a potent NE or E with -10C or lower and we're hammered, though I can count on one hand how many of these there have been in the last 30 years.

Temperature has edged down from 2.7c to 2.4c here but still not much in the way of anything falling yet though.  We might get some temporary snow if this band gets heavier and evaporative cooling kicks in?

Edit getting heavier here now but still mainly rain.....

Expecting nothing but rain here anything else will be an bonus. Last few winters have being dire for snowfall for low lying areas apart from transient minor dustings least seen some snow from this spell and this winter has being better for cold and frost. But being years since an significant winter snowfall last one was Jan 13. Guess was spoilt from 2009-2013 even the good old Northerly toppler from the noughties delivered lots of snow here even it only lasted 2 or 3 days. Still another good six weeks of winter yet so fingers crossed.
