BBC forecast seems to suggest at least a period of snow for most on TV.

Can't compare to the mesoscale models because i don't have an exact forecast position for 9pm but currently the lowest pressure (compared to 9pm forecast from GFS) is about 40 miles south of where it should be. I'm using the current observations from xcweather and their forecast position which is based on GFS

For us that means that instead of passing over Harrogate, the low centre may pass closer to Sheffield. Whether that's enough for us is hard to say.

That's good news for many, although my main concern is temperature.

BBC currently suggest its a frosty evening and its 2c, however no sign of frost and its 4c here so temps need to drop or precip needs to be heavy if I'm going to see snow tonight.

can someome watch paul hudson bbc 1 at 652pm to see what he says please and report back on here as im at wrk :( thanks. no one seems to knw but wht a shame its backtracked from last night though :(

A mess, it was the Welsh bloke on about his pink motorbike, but he eventually got to the weather... 10-15cm high ground, 1-3cm low ground, apparently countywide. The graphics were like tigerstripes of rain and snow oriented north south. It looked better than I thought but another marginal one, height would be good if you've got it!

Evaporative cooling is a factor in the snow forecast however your an anomoly, most of the north and east is 2C or below.

Pretty sure it will be just rain tonight. What do people think about Friday? Showing light snow for me on the BBC but I'm not convinced - think The Daily Express hacked the Horsforth forecast last night...

No game of golf up there that's for sure!

can they be so wrong on tv? this is strange!

On the synoptic it looks like we are north of the surface mild sector but south of the low so we get an occlusion, maybe it's milder air aloft is causing the uncertainty. Would be nice to get a pleasant suprise for once!

I think it is the second or third highest pub in the UK.

At least it is snowing there though.  Bodes well for us!

Isn't Flash Bars a shop?

Highest pub is Tan Hill Inn, Yorkshire Dales 1723ft followed by Cat and Fiddle in Peak District

I think that is right although I think the Cat and Fiddle no longer exists as a pub hence my comment about The Winking Man.
