Last months feature looked good for us 5 days or so out then corrected South and blasted Midlands.

Tonight's had some of us in sweet spot with corrections South but now moving north again(and last night).Lmao.

Dales, northwards place to be imo and some of the higher hills a rad further south.

If you're on low ground(200m below)Don't get excited.

Edit-Just seen the amber warnings for ne England and Cumbria.

That's a big jump north.

Take a monumental shift South for most of us to benefit.

The southern tranche of that warning area really only applies with Height. Really could all change as some of the models have it as snow for everywhere except for the warm 'blip' at 3am. That blip could cause a LOT of issues, as its going to freeze over by 6am over wide swathes of the Pennines, so if there is any thaw its going to all turn to Ice.

Arpege 6z looks decent, particularly for North Yorkshire, and especially over higher ground of course.

ICON in agreement with Arpege. NMM not having it, with snow limited to high ground only over our patch.

This is potential snow depths by tomorrow morning if the Arpege model is to be believed.

Meto text forecast still bullish for snow across our region tonight.

Yorkshire & Humber

Headline:

Snow overnight. Cold, windy at times.

This Evening and Tonight:

A frosty evening, then thickening cloud will bring sleet and snow overnight, locally heavy, giving accumulations for many, especially over hills, and at some lower levels later. Strong winds at times, especially later as cold northerly winds set in. Minimum temperature -1 °

ICON though has no Snow for anywhere in Yorkshire.

Although would ignore its Snow map, as its wrong even now - saying no snow anywhere, yet there is.

Yes it is quite a knife edge situation for our region given the conflicting forecasts and model runs.

That said I reckon those with decent altitude should do pretty well tonight.

Currently 2c and mainly rain showers here at the moment so that doesn't really bode well for later.....

Look earlier, it flips it goes through a spell of rain for a few hours before.

NMM seems to be going for a with height only event - which is tbh what its likely to be, but those with height could really get a lot.

Yeah Meto text forecast says virtually all snow for our region tonight but the automated hourly Meto forecast for our area says rain all the way.  I know where my money is!

It's really difficult to decide what's going to happen, all the text forecasts, BBC graphics and radio bulletins are all different!

Owain on radio Sheffield this evening is saying heavy snow so.....

Pretty sure it will be just rain tonight. What do people think about Friday? Showing light snow for me on the BBC but I'm not convinced - think The Daily Express hacked the Horsforth forecast last night...

Well i'm expecting a period of snow settling for a while over the tops but not here in the valley.
Recent rain has washed off all the snow here so it'll get no help in settling.

The question has to be whether it all get washed away before morning rush hour?

I do expect something nice to watch falling later in the evening though!

not expecting much tonight at low levels.....but it could easily pivot south over Yorkshire later on bringing some surprise late snow ( a few of the short range models are suggesting this )

as far as Fri goes . 850 HPa temps look very cold , so there is a chance
