Definitely, I think it’s half hope casting, half what the actual charts are showing in the mod thread. They are seeing it as a southern event but it looks like midlands will do best with either side of them up for grabs. Personally I reckon the front will reach south North Yorkshire before going off east. But as usual I will wait and see what met say and warning areas. Look out for more northern correction and less southern incorrection ?

My thoughts are similar, but further to that anything south of Warwickshire will be rain, 850's just wont be high enough to support snow further south without a 'miracle'; its making the Southern thread very amusing to read as they are in for a shock.

ICON has it further north for thursday so back in the game!

It’s actually quite a big shift as well.  There were comments last night in the mad thread about the ICON southern correction being overdone, and it looks like that may well be the case.  Still of interest, and ICON and GFS have both being showing this for the last few runs, is the returning front which start to move East/West late Friday/early Saturday and could actually give greater falls than the initial front (if the precip charts are to be believed of course)!

Great point, it should pick up more moisture over the sea so could be quite interesting

The band of precipitation to our West currently looks stronger than had been indicated by the models although it looks like most is currently falling as rain or sleet with snow reserved for higher ground.  It will be interesting to see if the intensity is maintained or whether it starts to fragment as shown on the models as it come over the Pennines.

Just started raining in Meltham Huddersfield, suppose it is expected to turn as the day goes on. Happy that it’s getting over the Pennines tho, that was my worry today?

Its not even snowing on higher ground here, snow has gone even from the 500m hill tops. Has just turned to a sleet mixture though, so might turn back to snow 'soon'.

Ignore what the radar snow overlay is saying, its wrong with this one.

Sleety rain here, just started and right on the edge of the band. BBC suggests 2pm for the main band, Metoffice a couple of hours earlier, so we shall see.

Plenty of rain and sleet reports in the north west. A bit of sun here for a while but cloud coming back. Conditions at the moment not good for Snow will have hope for back edge snow.

Its a cover all bases warning i.e. put it anywhere that any model they use has shown snow

What is surprising is the Northern extent it covers all our region and a fair bit above.

Oh dear the country is going to shut down due to snow. Whole uk plastered in a yellow warning. Mega fail set-up up now for met office.

They better be right or will be plain embarrassing.

Well with just a few hours before it's due, Met O and BBC at loggerheads in my area. Heavy rain vs. Heavy snow showers.
