Well I'm hoping that MetO have the at risk areas nailed as our river is still compromised by the ongoing flood alleviation works!

That said I have every empathy for the folk who will find themselves flooded out from this.

A low of 15.8c here, the highest overnight October temp here by a long shot, and only 6 days after we recorded our coldest ever overnight temp for early October.

Yeah it's disgustingly warm and humid out there. Had enough of it now, roll on the cooler stormier 2nd half of October.

Ready for autumn now!

16.7c the low was here

Now over 22c

Its up to 24.8C here now. We've never had a temperature above 20C past 16th October in 38 years of records, so to reach almost 25C so far into the month is ridiculous.

Just a measly 21.9C here. Just hope the rain holds of tonight as its t shirt summer weather and I don't want to go out with a jacket.

We had 27.2C on the 1st October 2011 btw.

Yes, we reached 27.3C that day too, but have never topped 20C later than 16th October. It makes reaching almost 25C today so unusual.

As mentioned in the Autumn thread, the minima here this morning of 18.8C was 1.9C warmer than the previous record set on 1st October 1985 and the third warmest of any month back to 1980 - the other two higher minima both being this year in July.

What a beautiful day.
8° C as I type, still and not a cloud in the skies.

Lot of snow around today on the radar. Mostly seems to be sleet on the lower parts, but higher parts radar says its snow and going on the pictures in the North East thread that seems to be true.

More in the way of light showers than I expect this morning. Some snow from Graves park into the peak district although only briefly lying while I was up there. Doing my back in when I arrived at Tissinginton persuaded me not to have my normal several hours walk so I drove back. The snow caused the normal panic even though it wasn't sticking to the roads and a driver with P plates doing 20 to 30 mph in light sleet clearly shouldn't have passed their test.

It was snowing on my driving test back in 2008 and I think that was a sign I was going to love driving in snow.

Regularly drive in snow during winter and absolutely love it, I actually considered myself a confident snow driver until last December when I was doing 50mph on a straight road covered in compact snow in Iceland and I was overtaken by a coach .

Just a bit of wet snow today, not bad for end of October, hills over 1000ft did very good but not unusual for these elevations to see snow end of October.

Nothing to report from here, shame but not unexpected!

Dew point never really went below zero, apart from early this morning so I won't see snow in Rotherham with 2c Dews.

Well after seeing some white stuff Saturday the next bit of interest could be next Saturday which maybe very windy. Still too far ahead and probably be downgraded to next to nothing closer to the time but worth watching out for.

Dense fog on higher routes 9.oc.

Looking forward to next weekend in East Yorkshire.

Possibly snowing.

But before that freezing fog middle of next week top temperature

For Wednesday day time  next week around 5.oc. at best.

Where fog lingers even lower.

Well it looks like tonight is going to colder than what the GFS reckons and the local met office forecast. Local forecast reckons five degree and we are down to 6.6C already. GFS reckons 5C to 7C.

Next week looks mostly a cold damp week. Tuesday night into Wednesday looks slightly interesting. If we could get heavy rain out of that it may cool the atmosphere enough for a pleasant surprise. However I'm expecting a wet soggy night and a need for some very high ground to get some white stuff.
