South east looks the place to be. Some reporting on 2cm down there while all we get is a melting dusting.

The amber warning isn't till 4pm so don't expect anything yet.

The gap seems to disappear on sat24 radar however little sign of anything else building in the north sea other than showers.

Morning all :)

Woke to a slight covering earlier but its melted on the roads now, just some left on grass and roofs. Its polystryrene balls snow at the moment, almost hail in the piles that I can see.

Big gaps now between showers, so we'll have to be a little patient I think and see what this evening and overnight brings. Plenty of time left yet! :good::cold:

Are we expecting some sort of a trough to get this warning??

I think after 4pm there will be no snow melt between showers so if you catch a rash of showers accumulations will start to mount up.

Only if the temperatures drop a bit further. The winds may keep them up a bit. Probably needs to get below -2C to stop it melting. Now if the showers manage to fall faster than the melt that's the other thing.

Yes we have heavy showers here but melting between due to the sunlight strength, Its currently 0c with a dew of -3c so once the sunlight goes hopefully the snow will start to accumulate.

Its too far south is all this snow for Leeds!

Well let’s hope we start to see something from 4pm as in the Meto warning. Because if it stays like this it’s another Amber bust for Leeds

The forcast is for showers to band together in places to give slightly prolonged periods of snow for those lucky enough to catch them and obviously as the sun starts to go down and temperatures with it will help these accumulations. Not all the places in the Amber area will receive those streamers it’s more about nowcasting and radar watching. Remember these areas are only a guild some places outside the warning area may also get the heavier/iest Showers/Streamers. :drinks:

The radar looks great for South storks, Those north may be forgiven for thinking we are laying down inches however the reality is that the snow showers are flying through and gone within 2 minutes of starting. They are quickly replaced by brief sunshine causing melt. So in actual fact it’s not as exciting as it looks.

The real fun begins when the sun lowers! Woppeee.

Lovely cold crisp sunny day in Leeds. Bitter in the wind.

Radar not looking too good for much of West Yorks at the moment. South York's looks the place to be!

-1.8C and melting as soon as it stopped. Another shower coming so we've finally gained a little in cover hopefully the next one will provide proper cover.

Sat 24 looks good for Leeds later on. We should get a line near coast soon headed from the ENE.

Nice right now not often you get the coldest temp at midday below zero -1.9C right now. Probably 5mm of cover needs some more. Correction now -2.1C

Looking at Sat24 and radar those in west Yorkshire need to look at the pointy bit of the coast where another que is setting up far into the North Sea. These should head for York and then Leeds.

Convergence was due to start round mid day for around 14 hours so if your currently under a streamer you've got lucky if your in a gap your in for a frustrating day. Looks like parts of Leeds could be in for a bang your head against a wall kinda day
