My side road is covered in that blowing fine snow in wafty waves.

Mess heavy earlier but calmer now before the next bout gets in.

Sun came out and it got colder a heavier brief snow shower. This stuff is highly polluted so despite being below freezing is struggling to settle on pavements and even where it's given a slight dusting on the grass it is rather wet. Also a walk down to shops showed no ice at all away from cars and my Stephenson screen. So I'm expecting very dirty windows by the end of Sunday like last time.

Just noticed a clearer spot in the showers and guess where that is heading.

Yes we had loads of mank everywhere after the last fall, our vehicles and glazing was left covered in soot type stuff - wasn't sure whether to blame the local steelworks or not!

Another moderate shower in North Sheffield. I’ve seen the temperature is below -1 but I don’t understand why the snow is melting between the showers?!  The road was semi covered before it’s much less now and even some melt on the car!

I’m sure it will get better with time.

Been for a walk to the shop, snow accumulating in areas not exposed to the sun but very melty elsewhere. It felt wet as it hit my face.

Impressive to look at when it comes down in full swing though.

That's exactly what happened to us in the last easterly. I've no idea why these form, it's so frustrating!

We've had frequent snow and graupel showers in the last couple of hours but everything keeps melting in between at the moment. Temp is low enough at -0.4C so it's a bit strange.

It makes me laugh that the dramatic headlines have started with airports cancelling flights as the snow sweeps the country - do they mean this melty stuff that is melting 5 seconds after it lands!

Still plenty of time temps will drop away later this afternoon.

To be fair on the met forecast they did say there would be melt between showers, but getting colder through the day. I expect it to improve greatly late afternoon onwards

strong March sunshine in between hefty snow showers ...........i think the fun starts after dark this evening for 5 hours or so if you are lucky enough to hit a stream

I’m safe to describe the latest shower as a blizzard. Couldn’t see very far with heavy snow that covered everything within 5 minutes. They look like they are lining up but I notice a slight SEly movement and not going direct east.

That sun is so powerful, it's just a mushy mess here.  If there is still snow falling when the sun goes down then happy days.

Despite being well below zero the snow is melting so probably won't be anything left by this afternoon even in shaded spots. Just having the 2nd sunny spell after a beefy shower a few minutes ago. Shows what the combination of a little sun and pollution can do.

Impressive easterly wind here, been averaging close to 30mph with gusts of over 40mph.

Just had a direct hit from a shower so a light covering so far.

Looking at March 2013 which certainly whipped this month for Snow fall. Only produced one ice day though. Today will probably produce another so that's four this month. December managed 7 ice days so shows how cold these short blasts are. Snowing heavily at the moment.
