Avoid the roads in West Yorkshire, slip road blocked by stuck lorries, even cars and vans couldn't get up the Stourton slip road. 20180308_075649.thumb.jpg.d100100b8165354ba7059e4347d21109.jpg

It's even snowing in Hull and the flakes are absolutely huge. It's settling as well, but I'm surprised after the down pour this morning! Crazy

Another met office mess up heaviest snowfall in years

Met Office released snow warnings yesterday.

Very pleased, clearly being quite wet has helped the snow too because unlike the other day it has settled on everything including wires and the like.

Last week it took me an hour to get to Meanwood from Tinshill before I had to turn back. This morning I couldn't even get out of my street!

Ahh not far from Horsforth. Never had a problem getting there and back from sheffield. People used to hate me at work as they "couldn't get in" from a couple of miles away while I made all the way from sheffield without any issues.

Anyway stopped here pretty quickly and luckily the temps rose before turning it to ice. It was freezing on the top of my car as I brushed it off so could have been very tricky.

All Kirklees roads are blocked with snow, stuck buses, crashes etc. Chaos!

The snow is perfect for making some huge snowmen.

Looking on the radar the snow is pivoting and twisting back South and East. Could more heavy snow sweep back across the affected areas?

Lots of hills that's the trouble. The roads haven't been gritted so it's just impossible to get out. Really didn't expect it! Still snowing here too.

Nothing in Sheffield City centre, although to be expected. Always interesting seeing the transition from Fulwood down. Rain / snow stopped now.

I think the Met Office called this pretty well. May have underestimated the depths lower down in west Yorkshire, but most seem to have got up to 10cm which was in the warning!

I always find it strange that the peeps who post on here (presumably snow chasers) complain about the warnings not being sufficient or right rather than enjoying the snowfall they have ...........

Yesterday the weather system was meant to go to the south hitting mostly the midlands and South Yorkshire with snow for the latter and higher ground if you go by the tv forecasts It then shifted slightly to include the majority of the region. I must admit I wasn’t expecting what has fallen especially the way it has stalled slightly over us. Been snowing in my location for several hours now maybe 3” has accumulated over that period and it’s still snowing loverly little surprise to the morning not expecting it to last very long but still nice to see a long with yet another snow day. :D

Really is coming down again. Still got 2 foot high snow drifts here from the last lot as it seems the temps so far haven't been high enough to make a massive dent its only the sunlight that shifts it.
