Well that was an abrupt end of the cold spell, was watching the snow fall from 1am this morning of which was quiet heavy, the heaviest i have seen it in that cold spell and put down a cm or two in a short while, what was noticable was the wind as it was quiet cold as i said the other day it was a shame that the snow didn't come with the strong winds, still i am not complaining as it was a good cold spell but not the best(IMBY)in terms of snow here which gave me a few inches

i took my daughter and dog to Wharncliffe woods/crags yesterday for a walk to have some fun in the snow and was a great day out, then i drove to Bolsterstone and surrounding areas to get some snow drift pics, the last two was my favourate with a hole in the drift:)

The fog here is incredible, I can barely see the houses opposite and all the lights I usually see across the valley have disappeared completely. A real old fashioned pea souper! What with snow again this morning it’s been a great week for weather.

well after all the forecasts of the big freeze lasting well into march,im surprised how quickly the cold has been shunted away.after all the hype this cold snap never lived up to its top billing.

It wasn't hype... it was what the models were constantly showing... And... you are joking? Temps of -5c in the daytime ,in March with heavy driving snow.

What a difference today .. 6 C and no wind, really pleasant in the sunshine, birds singing,

washing out on the line.

Not a trace of the snow left here now.

Yes, it really surprised me .. I thought we would get loads around the Humber area with this Easterly.
I got less than 2 "  .
It was quite disappointing but I don't envy folks knee deep in slush now.

We can’t complain in SE Sheffield the snow was stunning and thanks to you guys I was well prepared for it. I enjoyed the forecasts and debates and I’m in awe at how you read those charts. I’d happily go through another bout and I will continue check g in to see what you think will be next. Thankyou :)

I have to agree with Reef and others in East Yorkshire it was definitely disappointing in terms of snow depth.

There was certainly no hours of heavy continous snowfall, but more like short bursts of heavy showers which only reasonable in depth due to their on and off nature.

Thia period will remembered more for that strong Easterly wind that caused snow drifts and often near zero visibility on exposed coastal strips and exposed elevations.

It was pretty good, above average in the christmas pudding; nothing spectacular and certainly not up there with the best.

Well I hope that's it for 2018 i enjoy my outdoors pursuits like running and cycling far more than 'just cold'.

Certainly don't want to see anything on it near Saturday 17th March as I have my first long distance bike ride of the season planned: 200km / 125miles.

Well Sheffield last week got away with it compared to other places in the country.

Anyways tomorrow may have a little interest for us but will need to wait until this evenings model runs to get a clearer idea.

Temperature dropping like a stone right now. The clue for tomorrow will be how heavy the rain will be when it arrives. heavy then the atmosphere will cool and snow will reach lower levels. Light and away from peak district it will be rain. So marginal and fingers crossed.

Actually looking at the radar there is a risk that we may get some wintry showers before that.

Now turning to sleet/wet snow. Nothing settling yet but it's turned pretty quickly.
