A big improvement in conditions around the eastern end of the Wolds tonight. On a journey from Malton to home all main roads were mainly clear, with just the odd patch of blowing snow. Still bitterly cold though with a penetrating easterly wind. Another issue for coastal areas around here are the waves, was down in Bridlington about 5.45 and with the gale force winds there some huge waves breaking over the seafront and harbour. Took my camera down, but there was that much flying salt spray that I did want to risk an expensive DSLR camera, Mrs took some pictures with her waterproof phone, but they didnt do it justice. Also seen some video on Facebook from Scarborough showing the seafront being inundated near the harbour.

Sorry for late reply but the pale blue area north of York is just ghosting. It's pretty much over my house and we've had nothing since 1100ish.

Having said that @vizzy2004 may have had some snow up on the ridge.

Thanks for that buddy

I thought as much.. ?

What a journey home, diversions, road closures, slow moving buses on snow covered hills, grrr.

And drifts not far off the height of the car, driveway under nearly 2ft. Defo best I can remember in my 44 years ?

hi all

lodge moor west side of Sheffield

light snow for the past 1 1/2 hours. V small fine flakes. Don't think it's just drifting although a lot of that going on. Started whilst I was out about 17.30. Before it arrived looking south east over green hill area there seemed to be a very dense area approaching and it proved to be what I thought. Yipee

Most of this area that's showing precipitation on radar are seeing no or very little snow.

Well just taken dog for a walk to nearest newsagents to get supplies and can confirm that we have persistent light snow that covered the cleared car windscreen again in the 40 minutes that we were out. Windy and nippy too but warmer than last night at -2.2C. Still coming down and definitely lots of small flakes rather than snizzle.

Look North forecast just said there is potential for further significant snow tomorrow evening...

Interesting, they must be going for three forecast busts in a row!

It seems storm Emma has a mind of her own and not progressing as the models have predicted. Emma has moved slightly E I'd say if you're in the southern parts of the Midlands you might get some heavy snow into the early hours.

We have the tiny flakes here but with so many hills and the wind blowing a hooley it might just be old snow from the tops?

The light blue is just thick cloud, we always see it (or stuff so light that it never reaches the ground). The darker blues though should be actual precipitation.

Err nope it's snowing quite steadily here has been doing for a while. It isn't new stuff blown up in the wind either a combo of both.

Seen posts saying that Emma looks like it's quite a bit further east and possibly north any chance of us in the south getting anything from it?

My apologies for not posting an in depth analysis that I promised this morning. Due to events beyond my control I have not had time to do anything. If I get time tomorrow afternoon, if that is not already too late, I will do one then.
