You know what, I don't think that's particularly dry air. I think it's moisture that hasn't been given a 'lift'. Once that air interacts with the land, convection seems to pop up!

Well this is just nuts - as close to whiteout conditions as I'm probably going to experience in this country bar the top of a mountain.

Hey Reef, for once they are pepping up as they approach (one has just turned yellow) and the wind is now slightly North of East so looking promising for the first decent snowfall here since 2010. Last blizzard I experienced was in 1982, don't think that will happen now but at least people are getting a flavour of some real severe weather eh?

Nice load of showers now in the north sea :)

The kitten from the east has become a young cat from the east. Just need strong winds now and it can be called The beast from the east.
