I'd this rain from the South?!?

Yes it's the torrential stuff that was forecast for South but has gradually been modelled further North and east.

I don't see how this has happened without speeding up the warmer air! Other that to think a wave has developed on the low

Not something to be expected at this stage but would be a nice surprise if it does hit the region.

That first band hitting Normy now S/England of Leeds started quite light but getting heavier and winds really picked up again

GFS has got rid of the snow moving north and has fizzling out in the midlands. The main issue will be drifting snow and if it's windy enough you won't know it's fresh snow falling or old snow blowing around.

Looking ahead to tomorrow evening, the HIRLAM model is interesting to say the least...

The dry area is clearly visible on the met office radar. Hopefully this doesn't limit our chances later tonight.

Game over for Rotherham and Sheffield with this band it's moving North West still. Enjoy your snow North and West Yorkshire your turn now!

Rotherham and Sheffield will get a bit from the southern edges of these showers, albeit mostly light. Can see a similar pattern overnight at times. It's all moving straight east -> west IMO :)

Would that purely depend on the wind staying E or E/NE direction now then for the majority to keep the showers coming in? Keeping the dry air to south of us, sort of!!

Cheers

I think we need it to be more North easterly to get the best result. Not sure what is forecast.

Yeah light snow that won't add up to much id imagine! We had our turn earlier though so I'm not complaining!

Seems to have slightly intensified over the last few radar frames - looks a little better now :)

edit: additionally, I'd say there is the slightest southerly component to the direction these showers are taking, and I mean slightest but it is helping keep S Yorks in the game right now!
