It was a lovely scene at 7am with about 5cm of snow but has now all but gone. Been out for a walk and although it's a cold wind doesn't feel particularly bitter in the strong sun. Eerily qiuet actually with relatively few folk out and about on the Ouse paths

Took my camera but nothing worth snapping

Here's looking forward to the next few days

I have just been sat off the A1 with the A61 Ripon turnoff. Absolutely whiteout for about 20 mins. Now blue sky and sun. Couldn't make it up ?

Even those that have snow say it's all melting. Something we were also told the extreme cold temps by day and strong march sun would not do. It's 2c here in York yes it's Baltic in the wind but it's 2c all the same.

Think the chances are pretty much gone now. Regarding the snow on Friday don’t think it will even reach us to be honest.

Been out making snowmen with my daughter. Snow's a bit powdery for it, but plenty of it. Has melted a bit, but still plenty: not like our last decent snowfall earlier in the winter when it was all gone by teatime.

If we get more showers overnight, should have another snowy day tomorrow (though maybe with the schools open...)

I just popped in the Kent thread and Steve Murr is predicting 40/50 cms .. Now that would make a fab snowman

Surely we are going to get alot of heavy snow showers forming later when the colder air arrives. I really don't want to be radar watching on Friday/Saturday, it'll be a slow motion car crash with the precipitation petering out to nothing by the time it arrived (if it got here at all)

At least there seems to be a bit more intensity to whats forming, nice chunk of showers at the mouth of the Humber building for someone, winds getting up a bit now too, i always wrongly or rightly use tree branches as the yardstick for melt, if its still on them its not too drastic :D think i need more food maybe a hotdog i think , bread onions, sauce and.....

I feel really sorry for you guys who missed out this morning, I know what it feels like living on the West coast. I’m happy today though as I got 2 inches from that low here which is mostly still intact.
