Light dusting overnight here, which makes this a very disappointing spell so far for us, given the Synoptics.

5cm on my car here.

Not a bad covering.

Watch them showers get going later and organised tonight.

Gonna be all our time this eve and overnight imo and tomorrow.

Seems like the further west you are the better it is - which kind of defies all logic in an easterly, but there you go.

It's snowing lightly but it's not having any impact on the existing cover. Kinda pretty to look at, I guess.

Very poor show from met office. It was obvious from the 18z models and from looking at the actual radar hours beforehand it would be further North and West.

Around 1cm here so looks wintry but no chance of sledging!

Agreed.  North Sea already firing up.

Showers are intensifying especially North Yorkshire.

Think everyone needs to be more patient. If showers don't get going today like Nortumberland then I'll totally agree it's a big disappointment

Shaking with fear I approached my car attacked by massive snowflakes and severe blizzards I braced myself to wipe the roof clear of snow. Luckily the 1mm of snow wasn't frozen and came away easily. The wipers were amazingly strong enough to clear the windscreen. Not having a snowmobile I knew I was going to struggle to work. I pulled out of the drive holding my breath wait thats another normal car going past perhaps I'll be okay. However the slopes of the pot holes could be an issue but with geat skill I navigated round them. I realised even the normal morning dopes were actually driving faster than normal. I relaxed snowmeggon hadn't happened and most dangerous thing on the road bar other drivers was the grit and of course the deep pot holes.Meanwhile I work I try and capture a snowflake to pickle and preserve it it such a rare beast these days.

Very disappointing here in Leeds. If we can't get a decent snow event from what we are told is the best easterly for years, then we may as well get a new hobby. Not expecting anything of note at all now.

Fair enough the met office did well predicting the cold quite far out, but other than that they've been very poor with their forecasts during it.

Defo today and tomorrow.  Should be some amazing convection!

Friday forget about it.  That blizzard has no chance of making it this far North!

Staying cold over the weekend too but less cold uppers might curtail the shower activity somewhat.

ITS SNOW! It can be hard to predict where its going to land even 3 hours away never mind a day away.

Lamppost watching is the only reliable way of seeing if its going to snow

I feel better about making the decision to work from.home hearing the reports here that heading up to York could be tricky. The rail network is having issues due to the low temps and that alone can and is stopping trains. It's the not knowing what might be coming!

By the sounds of it I've done quite well out of this feature. As demonstrated by my doorbell camera :D
