Initial showers will be more soft hail and grauple rather than snowflakes due to the relatively stable conditions aloft and the source being more SE than E. That will change over the next 12 hours though as the flow becomes more E/ENE and 500hPa temperatures fall, introducing more instability and convection. Then we'll start seeing beefy snow showers and the risk of thunder.

Latest EURO 4 looks great for York’s.

2 screens attached. One looking at projected snow depth for 48hrs and the other looking at accumulation of precipitation in 48hrs cumulative. Makes good reading. Look at the highest amount around Sheffield! Wopeee (sorry for being so IMBY) but overall good for many!

Snowing lightly here now after the first shower fell as hail around 11pm. There's a few showing on the radar to the east but it's still a bit too warm really at 1.5C.

They're starting to pile up in the North sea now though, so possibly a dusting by morning.

the radar looks like popcorn just exploded off shore .. looks like Britain will be at a standstill sooner than exbrexted . We're even expecting lake effect snow west of Lough Neagh here in Norn Ireland . Enjoy it all you can .. bc

Couldn't sleep!  A few flakes starting here.

The radar is looking very active to our East with a large area of showers or even more persistent snow building just off the coast moving into East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

Some heavier echos starting to appear as well.

Better than I expected at this stage anyway!  :cold:

There's a few flakes here in Garforth at the moment but no evidence on the ground yet. The radar looks better than I expected, hopefully this is the start of a memorable week!
