I've the occasional glimpse of stars with dark, silver lined clouds passing by, and this strange very tiny, occasional white dust passing by my outside light....got all excited...on second thoughts twas dust.

They're absolutely right about the low trending further west. Latest GFS the same as well as ICON 18z.

Is that better for us in the South part of York's

Out of interest what does that mean for our region?

Yes better for South and Western Yorkshire. Hopefully the track is more stable now we're nearer the time :)

So would expect more of us to be included in the Amber warning

How can the precipitation be further west when it's travelling from east to west? Surely it's primarily just down to how north or south it is? Or does he mean it will keep its intensity further west?

High likelihood of the Amber warning being chopped and changed over the next 24 hours, im hoping these showers can hold off tomorrow, id like to make it into work at least one day this week!

I'm guessing it's one of two things: a) the direction its travelling has changed slightly (say more NE-SE than NNE-SSW), or b) it's further north so the affected areas will be further west.

Oh they do. On the 10th December, the midlands had an amber warning, that was pulled southward to include the home counties whilst snow was falling out of the sky. We got about 4-5" in North Herts.

It's the former - you can track the ppn on the 18z GFS run and it now looks like it's heading more SE rather than SSE, if it verifies that way, of course.  It also looks slightly more extensive, thankfully for us.

Before bed, I would also like to say that people can voice their own opinions, be it negative or positive. If someone believes the warnings won't change, their opinion is just as valid as the person who believes they will. They are both right until one of them is wrong.

Let's all relax and enjoy the ride this event looks rare.so many people like myself have waited years for this.

Just to see cold and snow after 5 years of scraps will make winter 2018 one to remember.
