It's usually 10 mins or so from the end so tune in at 7.15 to make sure you don't miss it! Hopefully a decent forecaster. Philip Avery did breakfast so won't be him.... Chris Falkes would be good for snow ramping!

Long as it's not the welsh geezer who's on look north. He's a mild ramper.

On radio Sheffield this morning he said we might see a few wintry showers tomorrow, even low ground might see a little snow.

Prefers the word chilly to cold. :nonono:

There has been a trend over the last couple of days to veer the wind to a more south easterly rather than straight easterly by weds. It's hard to complain at the synoptics on offer but this trend will reduce the chances of large falls of snow as it is a much drier air source.

Only briefly on the 12z GFS do the winds turn ESE, after starting the day as ENE'lies. They then revert back to a straight E by the afternoon.

Is anybody keeping an eye on the north sea satellite? Seems to be some development over the last hour, might be nothing, next few hours will tell one way or another.  https://en.sat24.com/en/gb/visual

Yes I’ve been watching them for a while expect snow showers/Flurries to start later this evening in the east moving more inland in the early hours into tomorrow. ?

GFS bullish as per normal bringing a slow thaw Friday night into Saturday may bring some freezing rain to the mix as well. UKMO keeps us in the cold air so more snow. So the fi starts around T96 hopefully ECM follows the UKMO.

Well this is it, weeks like this is why most of us are on here. Looking forward to the Yorkshire and E England thread being busy this week for the first time since March 2013.

Very excited here as we have 3 days of snow warnings, 2 of which are amber, and that's even before Thursday and Fridays prospects.

Good luck to all

Regards, Vizzy

Looking further afield on the radar there are now showers within around 50 miles of UK. Nothing off the Yorkshire coast currently but hopefully should start in the overnight period.

The winds don't turn SE'ly though. They switch slightly to ESE for a time during Wednesday before reverting back to a straight Easterly through Wed pm and all Thurs.

I appreciate this doesn't agree with your self-destruction on these forums but you'll have to live with it.

I did wonder earlier but now we know. You're a troll trying to incite a reaction. I'm embarrassed enough trying to counter your ridiculous claims. I'm not letting individuals spoil what is going to be a memorable week. Bye! :blink2:

There is a met office warning for amber in my area. Yet the BBC weather has me down for light snow flurries Monday  Tuesday  Wednesday...

Imo the BBC are to unreliable they've lost the plot .

They'd be more accurate hanging seaweed out of the window

Great run from the gfs tonight. Plenty of snow for our region next week. Yes some will do better than others. But I think most of us will see at least 5-10cm widely. Then the gfs in low resolution sends us back into the cold. Which does tie in with GP’s thoughts the other day in the mod thread.

I am certainly planning for travel difficulties this week, I can work from home for a couple of days, but as I said earlier I have a day trip to Preston planned for Wednesday. My wife has a hospital appointment Tuesday in Scarborough, and it doesnt take much snow to put Scarborough into gridlock. Other than that I'll make sure camera batteries are charged. If there is a more southerly shift in the wind direction then I think we will get less snow here, but other areas over the wolds will get more.

Any decent webcams over on the east coast where us landlubbers can see the first flakes arriving?

Yeah I live in Goathland for a while now.

Up here we need accurate weather forecasts 534ft asl.

On a serious note I cannot trust a BBC forecast. I come on here for you good guys and  gals.
