So when will we see first flakes of snow? I'm going for first flurries to start on east coast during Sunday spreading inland overnight leaving us waking up to a sprinkling/dusting on Monday morning.

Snowflake as early as today!

You won't have to worry about that next week!

Looking forward to hearing some avalanches as my deep lying snow crashes off my roof like it did in 2010 rather than the usual melt and drip drip.  :cold:

I'm so looking forward to this, last big snow I had was in  Kent in 1987 head height drifts, (I'm 5 foot), but I made it to the pub. we only have a pub in Ludford, no shop, so I can see lots of deep trenches from all directions heading there.

I was in Kent in Jan 1987 but I was only 6.

Remember the deep snow though.  It came up above our step outside the back door and so being an excitable 6 year old I ran out forgetting the step was there and went head first into a drift!

That was probably what started my fixation with snow if I am being honest (the event not the fall!)  :D

Ha ha I can see it now 'I am just off to the pub for some essentials'.  :D

Think we should have a snow depth competition next week.  The winner gets the virtual beers in!  :drunk-emoji:

In 2013 I had 15ft snow drifts that blocked the road to my house the farmers had to dig the community out as well as their life stock those guys do a tramendous job without a single aid from the council even though it’s council owned my hat goes off to them guys... :hi:

Radar watching will start Monday for me. GFS shows constant snow Wednesday-Friday but it will be less sensitive to showers and the air becomes cold enough Monday to see instability.

Jan and Dec 10 and Jan 13 produced 29cm, 23cm and 16cm (pre final snowfall for 2013) respectively. Those are the totals to aim for.

Well looking at the charts and different output this morning it seems like next week could make dec 2010 or even March 2013 look tame. Think some villages and communities could be cut off by midweek. :cold:

Said to my partner yesterday we need to get some food in before Tuesday as we may struggle to get to a shop after Wednesday and its looking very likely 2010 will be something in the past and we will be talking about 2018 for a long time! :) bring it on!! :p let the warnings upgrade!

To all on the coast. Tell all your fisherman friend's to dump copious amounts of boiling water in the north sea to aid convection?

Any guesses for the amount of snow in West Yorkshire? Looks like it will be proper cold with that wind chill.

I remember a snow drift back in my school days some 30 years ago. Fantastic as school was closed for days. We thought it was amazing until the fire brigade and police attended and moved us all on. Unbeknown to us cars were buried underneath the drifts.... God the kids nowadays haven't experienced that in this neck of the woods...happy days lets hope they get the chance to make some good memories
